AjarnP Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I know there have been several posts in the past about dentists in Chiang Rai and all see to give differing opinions about who is good etc. Last week I had occasion to visit a dentist and much to my surprise my wife suggested that I try the Thai Hospital. In a nutshell they are not only fantastic but cheap too. They have a special clinic of Saturday and Sunday mornings and all you have to do is to show up at 08:00. It's best to be on time as there are no appointments per se, you just show up, get a number and wait in line. I only had the usual 5000 meal service and de-coke. I was there at 15 minutes before eight and was all fixed up by 8:35 having spent the massive sum of 250Baht for the priviledge. The equipment they are using is all as modern as any other I have found in CR. By far the best experience for me in Chiang Rai to date as far as dentists go. Just thought I'd spread the word so to speak. I do believe that we spend our time moaning about the private hospitals in Chiang Rai and I for one have been guilty of not giving the Government hospital the respect that it deserves. I'm a convert! forget the other two in future.
afarang Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I am a long way from you ,in Deepest ,Darkest,Southern Buriram, very close to the Cambodian border. We are the last town before the border. A similar scenario - the local Govt. hospital has an excellent Dentistry Dept.. No complaints at all, except it is very heavily patronised ,so waiting time is much longer. The standard of treatment is very good ,AND very cheap, for Farang. Free for Thais free for Thais. They love it!!!55555555
lannaman Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Best dentist on the planet - Dr. Wanpaya. Works days Sriburin Hospital, evening and weekends she has a clinic Ban Du. Good English and very nice caring lady. Sorted my pegs out like none other. I've had mixed experiences at the General Hospital Clinic.

If it's the dental practice I think Lannaman means (and we agree -very good service) then to find it get on superhighway heading north from CR town, go past the airport turning. Pass BanDu market on your left and the footbridge over the road. Do a u -turn at the next possible point and it is on the left in a parade of shops about 50 metres before you reach the footbridge again.

Thanks for the feedback, any chance the location can be placed on the google map? It would be appreciated and I can load it into my Sat Nav

kandahar Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 (edited) We go to a dude that is located just past Nim See Seng freight company on the main downtown drag. He is just south of the freight company. He has a practice in CM and is only in CR on Saturday evenings. So, Saturday evenings is when we go. He is pretty good and the costs are fair. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes but we always call ahead. The guy has good English. I have never seen another Farang in there, though. I am told that his father is the person who owns the big barbershop near Pizza company. Edited June 18, 2011 by kandahar
