$$$ Stolen At A Samui Island Hotel

Featured Replies

A Thai friend and I stayed at a hotel in Changwen in Samui Island for two nights.

I left 5000 baht (1000 baht x 5) and my passport in a safety box, well, that safety box looks like a changing room locker which is located on the ground floor, near the stairs to guest rooms.

The second day afternoon, i double check the safety box and everything was fine.

When we check out this morning, I found that only 4000 baht left.

Well, 1000 baht is not much but i really pissed off by the fact that, the safety box is not safe at all.

Why don't the theif take away all the cash but just 1000 baht?

He/she may think that 1000 baht is nothing to foreigners and they probably don't bother about it.

standard ploy ,same with BGs ,they take a little hoping you wont notice, or be confused about what you actually had in there to be sure.

most guys just shrug and think ' i must have had less ,oh well '

and forget it ...

*Note from moderator* As you suggest that your "friend" may have opened this with the key, it looks as though it may not be the Hotel's fault, but your allowing the key to fall into the wrong hands. For that reason I've edited the hotel name out.

I have to add something. I was staying in this hotel with a Thai friend. I suspect that this friend took my safety box key when I was sleeping.

I am still waiting for the punch line......

- is there actually a point to this thread, or did you simply write it to demonstrate you naivity and lack of common sense?

Lived on Samui for 3 yrs, never heard of "Changwen". :o

If you are clueless about the name of the village you are staying in, and you have a poor selection of "friends"....what is it you want us to do about it?

Almost certainly ######.

The way the English is written along with the mentality.....

Speaking of mentality, grow up and no racism needed here.

sounds like someone came in through a back door that was left wide open. :o
