I am in need of some advice to some questions..

1.. My girlfriend is pregnant and she has just returned back to Thailand from a holiday with me in oz, When the baby is born if i am in Thailand at birth does the baby get dual citizenship?

2.. We want to get married in near future but am not sure if i marry in Thailand does my wife get dual citizenship for oz and Thailand ?

3.. Would it be hard for my girlfriend to get another visa for 3 months or maybe 6 months before the baby is born, Maybe she can give birth in oz ? I am not sure..

4.. How long do we have to wait before can apply for another visa ?

I would appreciate any advice to my questions..

Australian citizenship is not automatically given to foreigners, you must apply for it.

Marriage and babies don't necessarily guarantee the granting of a permanent visa either.

It was the embassy's unwritten policy not to grant more than one tourist visa in any 12 month period however, in your circumstances I think you would have a good chance.

If you have decided to marry your g/f and to live in Australia, I suggest that you make application for another tourist visa and at the same time submit your papers for a permanent visa.

It will take two years from the time of your permanent visa application being approved for her permanency to be confirmed. (This is done be way of a written submission. Approval is given in writing. No interview required.) After that she can apply for Australian citizenship or dual citizenship.

Congratulations on your pending fatherhood. Good luck with your visa.
