True Wifi Access At 100 Baht A Month

Featured Replies

did anyone saw the advertisement ?

ooops I think it's 100 Baht a day

Last trip we got a DTAC WI-FI Blue tooth sim for 199 which was good for 70 hours and worked well even in the boonies of Mae On.One day we visited some friends who really are in the moddle of nowhere in a place called Mae Wong and it still worked perfectly....connectivity ...at last. :)

Registered and got an offer from "The Cloud" last week for £3 a month which sounds ok...must check it out.

3. Service fee 3.1) Hourly package: Fee is charged at 39 Baht per hour covering Wi-Fi (8 Mbps) access of 1 hour from receiving a confirmation message. In case of excessive usage, fee will be charged at 1 Baht per minute with a fraction of each minute counted as one minute or as per the user’s selected promotion; 3.2) Unlimited daily package: Fee is charged at 69 Baht per day covering unlimited Wi-Fi (8 Mbps) access per day from receiving a confirmation message until 24:00 hour of the date of applying for service. In case of excessive usage, fee will be charged at 1 Baht per minute with a fraction of each minute counted as one minute or as per the user’s selected promotion; 3.3) Unlimited monthly package: Fee is charged at 100 Baht per day covering unlimited Wi-Fi (8 Mbps) access per month (30 days) from receiving a confirmation message until 24:00 hour of the thirtieth day from the date of applying for service.In case of excessive usage, fee will be charged at 1 Baht per minute with a fraction of each minute counted as one minute or as per the user’s selected promotion;

Pricing/packaging is weird. Maybe they mixed up the 1 day/1 month pricing? It seems like the the per day pricing for the "1 Month Unlimited" should be less (per day) than the "1 Day Unlimited"? So I'm thinking maybe they meant it to be 100 baht for one day, and 69 baht per day for 30 days?

I know 3BB is offering 2M unlimited access at 107 Baht a month

hmmm, 2M sounds not enough ... Also one have to check if living near enough their hotspot

2M is definitely better than 512 lol

scan the hotspots available; 3BB operates through Family Mart

Both these offers require that you be an existing customer (3BB, a DSL customer; True, a Truemove - mobile telephone customer), in case that wasn't obvious. So these plans get layered on top of an existing account.

The 3BB promotion does appear to be 99 baht (excl of VAT) for the entire month. The True promotion seems like it is 39 baht for 1 hour, but then the day-to-day and monthly (per day) pricing seems unusual, but 69 baht for 24 hours, and 100 baht per day for 30 days (as currently published).

On the True side I think they terminate sessions every 60 minutes (that's been my experience with a bundled package of 10 WiFi hours per month), and performance is marginal at best (I'm typically using it in shopping malls). I almost always find 3G to be better.

I am wanted to subscribe (being a 3BB customer). Buth the told me I need an AIS SIM in my phone, so I cannot, as I am using DTAC.

Hmmm?!!

Oh thank you I knew it was too good to be true ...

Type "A" and send it as a SMS to 4825358; within minutes you will receive login and password from 3BB and 107 baht will be either added to your mobile bill or deducted if you are using prepaid SIMs although existing subscribers of 3BB can add on this service to their month subscription

I have tried four or five times getting True WiFi to work - it never did. That was at different hotspots in different locations. So IMO whatever they're charging for it, it's too much. True 3G was way faster, EDGE more reliable.

Has anyone had success with it?

I've also tried 3BB WiFi, and that at least worked in some locations. Was reasonably fast in Central World. Couldn't get it to work in Chiang Mai in the two places I tried. I admit I am not the most patient person - if it doesn't work after fiddling around for a few minutes, I give up and use one of my 3G connections. 3BB had a promotion, 5 hours for 40 baht or something like that.

I have been quoted 649 thb a month illimited for 8M by true for wifi @home, anyone tried this?

I am paying 900 baht for 3BB's 9M connection and I am happy with their customer service

Hmm that's a bit steep ... Do they have a cheaper deal ?

How far are u from the Family Mart?

  • Author

they have 599 baht for a 6M connection;

There is a Family Mart across the road where I used to live; their 2M wifi connection is much better than the free 512 :-)

Oh 599 could be just what I need

So that without being a previous customer I assume ? Post paid or pre paid ?

Do you reckon 500 meters away will still work (sorry I have no clue)

  • Author

it's a monthly subscription and no you won't be using Family Mart as a gateway; 3BB will lay the cables to your residence (if necessary)

Oh is it landline based ? or cable ?

its a one year minimum contract I presume?

Hi I signed up for the 100 b a month WiFi, my user name is my cell phone number and then they send you a password by SMS , I took my laptop outside and checked WiFi signals, found TrueWiFi , clicked which brought me to sign up page, So it does work if you have a True Sim , and it also works on your notebook and I guess on your desktop if its set up for WiFi , A cheap way to stay on line , This was on Sukhumvit in BKK , no idea how it works in other areas. BK

I've tried to use True Wifi on several occasions last month as I got 10 hours for free. Most of the time the login screen didn't even work. Twice I managed to actually log in successfully, but it ended up being so slow as to be unusable.

True WiFi is useless as far as I am concerned.

Oh yeah if you do get it working, please do a speed test. Speedtest.net will be fine, just want to know the speed to bangkok.
