Dell Studio Laptop

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I was wondering if you can help me??

I have a dell studio (only about a year old) and it has become so slow and very frustrating and takes about half an hour to shut down, if at all.

I was wondering if it is possible to take it back to when I purchased it.....I have tried to use system restore but it wont even do this and the restore points are after it has become slow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks....slippery

Does it have a genuine Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity sticker?

If so, you can use the same instructions as here

Have you tried scanning for Malware?

Download, install, update and run a Full Scan with Malwarebytes' AntiMalware. When complete, choose 'Remove Selected' if there is anything to remove and Reboot your computer.

After restart, open the program again and go to 'Logs'. Double click on the log produced for today and post the contents here.

If you check for malware and other things, then run System File Checker before starting over.

If you want to reset to factory shipped configuration, as long as you had a restore partition and it is still on your hard drive, Dell has good instructions on their support site.

MSPain

Should be the standard F8 boot on that model.

Warning: this WILL delete all your data, so back it up first (to some external storage). You will also need to do many Windows updates once the restore has taken place and you are online. Do these before doing anything else.
