khunphil
Nobody has mentioned it, but I would like to say that the river is on the rise and has been midnight.... I would like to mention it , but I won't....... Nobody has mentioned it, but its beginning to look like another "here we go again" situations...... but I won't mention it. Thr river reading at midnight 3.24m .... the river reading at 9AM ..... I don't know either ,,,,,,, somebody asleep at the wheel...but its 4.38 + G It should be 3.38 ;-) and it is 3.41 now. I am waiting for a +15 cm / h to worry. This looks "normal" to me;-) .. hope I am not wrong. Philippe I wish I could read Thai properly..... which river is this? It is not the Ping, but could run into the Ping and cause trouble. http://www.hydro-1.c...&rivercode=0607 It is critical! Both river leads to Lamphun, this is already critical there, you are right, but not in Chiangmai this time. Then go to the river Ping near Pasang... south-west of Lamphun. WinnieTheKhwai
Can anyone tell me if the ring roads are open to the Super Hwy? Yes, open. Everything is clear, not even wet anymore. Just the underpass at Aom Muang / Pa Daed is still closed as of yesterday, but I didn't see any flooding anymore. So all is clear.

Gonzo the Face
Need some expert help here.....and if we have anything on TV its experts Here are two links located as they say at Narrawat Bridge Do you see a difference and both supposed to be real time , or within the hour http://hydrology.rid.go.th/wmsc/cctvsamsen.htm http://www.hydro-1.com/index.php?id=61&rivercode=0602 Maybe its so simple and only my mind is fogged up It appears to me that one reads 3.42 at 1300 hrs And the other in real time reads less then one metre....... The red and white marker on the right, is it indicating that you must add 2m to the water level shown???

ThaiWx
Glad to hear you're all drying out some up there! I was supposed to fly in last week, but thought better of it. Now I'm debating going Wednesday, and probably just staying in the old town. Sounds like that will be right in the aftermath of whatever Nesat leaves . . . any thoughts on whether that's likely to affect airport to inner moat area (specifically getting from one to the other)? That section of town seems to hold up well during the floods (airport to inner moat) and you should be o.k. edit: as long as you stay up on Mahidol. Thipanet does flood and get difficult. Thipanet floods? That's pretty far from the river . . . the flooding doesn't cover all the way over to the river, does it? It was flooded yesterday about 200m or so from the airport intersection. Surprised me because I've never seen it flood there. On my motorcycle heading toward the airport intersection and had to get near the oncoming traffic side where the road is higher to get through.. adamchiangmai
My house is in the Changklan area (M.Weejangton) just short of the bridge of airport highway and mae ping.this time it was 25 cm higher than the "century" flood 6 years ago. At 4.94 m At the deepest point in the moban ihe water level was 1.80 m .I watch the website " hydro-1" regular and prepare my house ( sandbags, shutter and pump). On the flooding night the website was shut down ( no access) and nobody told us how high it will come.It is a 2 storey house so I could save many things.Water level in 1. floor 1.30m As the electricity was shut down i had to save my sausages in the deepfreezer and frigerators (www.countrysausagethailand.com) with a canoe and bring them to some friends.Today is already the 2. day of cleaning. My experience is, that the house will be dry in about 3 weeks and the smell gos away. Some losses of furnitures and food and a lot of work. Remember Thaksin : Chiang Mai will never be flooded again and 3 weeks later we had the century flood, i wonder what they will call it now.His sister now reigns the country. Is the flood now a bad omen for thailand ? cloudhopper
Thinking about the flooding......heres a weather report calling for CM to be under Thunderstorms thru next Thursday http://weather.yahoo...g-mai-12756736/ g Looks like heavy rain could fall over the next 48 hours. A typhoon is also currently heading this way and forecast to be over the Gulf of Tonkin Tues evening but too early to know if that will have any impact here later in the week. Lots of rain around the Pai valley and the river is raging but it drains into the Andaman Sea so is no factor for CM.

realthaideal
Hey Gonzo ! How's your Thai ? If you can't read, maybe you've got a translator (wink wink) handy. Here's a funky diagram off of the hydro-1 website. I'll give you just the link for the Ping into Chao Prayah schematic, and then the general one I pulled it from. Interesting thing is that it's super simplified and squarified, but maybe that makes it an easier diagram to follow. The Ping diagram follows the path from Mae Ngat all the way to Nakorn Sawan n Chaynat. http://model.haii.or.th/app/report/chaopraya_chart/ping.php http://www.hydro-1.net/ Hmm.....looks like the link is the general one despite me being ona different pg. Go to the middle with the 6 Colored Bars with a light pulsating thru them. Click on the very bottom one (pale algae green color? in this case) and it leads you to a pg with quite a few schematics of waterways in the country - including major rivers, their tributaries, and the locks they have at their disposal to control flow.
