I've got a current Thai Driver's Licence (motorbike, but the principle is the same for both) which expires in 2015. As usual, the ID Number is the same as my passport number.

But I'm getting a new passport.

Does that mean I should go off and get a new driver's licence with an updated number, or just keep the one I've got now? The Driver's Licence Number won't necessarily change, but what about that ID Number?

when you get a new passport, most of us have visa/permit to stay transfered to new passport, so both passportnumbers visible in new passport.

except for that, agree with wandring, dont worry, no one cares, and when time to renew they are so used to it they just ask"new passport".

I do not have one bank account any more where passportnumber matches banks files, and on every occasion I need a new passbok, its question as above, and no wait for reply from me

DLT said it don't matter when you renew your license it will have your new passport number put on it, maybe.

As kbb pointed out your new passport is stamped, as long as you have a Thai driving license is the main thing.

Along with my license I always carry a copy of my passport with the details, copy of insurance, copy of vehicle book, not necessary some will say but I do it for a just in case sake.
