depends on the file extension, but I use VLC as my media player cause of the subtitles for movies, and Windows Media Player as back up.

remember the box does not work with the latest versions of UTorrent or Bit Torrent, so be careful not to let UTorrent upload the latest version automatically. Was the problem I had a year ago.

Good advice about UTorrent, the box will guide you through it, I also use VLC and it works a treat.

Correct, Beano. They do stipulate what version of Utorrent to use and warn you of the consequences of using newer versions.

I download all my UK TV series from there and then load them onto a USB stick, put the USB stick into the DVD player and watch the programmes on the television downstairs. A 500 Baht dvd player from BigC does the job perfectly..

There are often HD versions of the programmes, so be careful which version you d/l. Some are mkv files. I prefer the xvid PDTV files.

Happy downloading/uploading

You learn something new on TV every day, I had never thought of doing that, so from my download folder is all I have is right click on the relevent file and send to a USB stick, and then I can play via my dvd player?

Up until now if I wanted to play on my television I have converted to a dvd file and then burn them onto disc, what a palava.

Exactly what I used to do, had ConvertXtoDVD, then onto a DVD, but then thought about a Media Player, but since my TV has a USB Port I am thinking of just getting an external hard drive, downloading the films directly onto it (by changing the directory in UTorrent) then connecting it to the TV by the USB and watching there.

Thanks Beano, so special programe needed then?

I have noted how I can change the UTorrent directory for further downloads, I have a months worth of Emmerdale (yes I know) that I haven't got round to converting, can I just send these to a stick?

I don't have a USB port on the television but I do have a computer input, I suppose I could just link my laptop to the tv, but a stick is easier via the dvd player.

Thanks again.

My TV recognises that a USB has been attached and the USB Menu comes up straight away, divided into three categories, Music, Film and Pictures.

Just send to the stick, I use terracopy to copy files.

LOL. I have to download Emmerdale from The Box weekly as my (Thai) missus loves it.

Good for dowloading anything from UK television using u torrent, but which player is best?

I highly recommend Media Player Classic - HomeCinema. Download the 32-bit (x86) version. Note: DirectX End-User Runtimes [link] is required, so install this first. Then install the following external filters:

- madshi "madVR" renderer [link]

- LAV media splitter [link]

- DivX H.264 Decoder [link]

- ArcSoft Video/DTS decoder [link]

Whilst this may seem like a lot of work, it's well worth the time and effort. If you're seeking the best playback experience, THIS IS IT. No other software player out there (except maybe MPlayer on Linux) comes close in terms of quality. If you need help with configuration, just say so...

A lot of stuff is HD on the Box. So if your equipment can deal with it there is no need to convert.

Many will need the PDTV versions the Box also offer to watch on DVD or via a USB stick.

No need for any programme converters or DVD burners these days. Simply drag and drop from where the torrents are onto the USB stick. Alternatively highlight the folder to be copied, go to 'Edit' at the top left of the screen and copy or move to the USB stick.

Considering you can buy an 8GB stick from Tucom for 320 Baht and a DVD player with USB for 500 Baht why bother with DVDs any longer?

Before being tempted to buy a bigger USB stick, make sure your DVD player or other equipment can handle USB over 8 GB.

One final advantage of those small DVD players with USB is that you can take them anywhere, say if you are going on holiday, plug it into the hotel tv and you have what you want to watch.

Same applies to the USB stick. Drop it into your pocket and you can transport your tv, movies, photos or music anywhere.

Have to be careful how you download from the BOX though, they have a ratio mix,download/upload. I have transgressed and have to seed like fury to get on the good side of those guys, all because of one 6.5 gb download

The trick being to d/l the FREE cr*p stuff. Doctors, Emmerdale, Coronation St., Hollyoaks. You can see what time of day they usually upload these. Get in fairly quick and you get plenty of GB to d/l what you want later :)

Searching the free stuff is easy enough too. Set the filter to Free and search with no boxes ticked. Doing this I have uploaded 184 GB and d/l 126 GB. Leaving me with a healthy 57 GB free to d/l something else I want. All that in about 2 months. I am happy

When there are no leechers click on the torrent and click delete torrent and data. Now you have the free space back.
