My Internet dropped out 3 days ago and we rang them within an hour of realising. But, needless to say that didn't help. I asked to be notified when the service was back up. I'm glad I did because the next morning we get a call, "your service is back up.!" cool, but when I checked, it wasn't. The call my wife got was from the technician, she called him back. "ok, he says, "I'll look into it."

Two more calls had them telling us "just wait 24 hours," which takes us into Saturday, today.

My wife just called again (first time today), "Ok, we'll look into it."

C'mon, it's been three days already.

I live in a condo, in Patong beach, on the 8th floor. My wife had already signed the contract and it took almost 2 months to get a connection. They even told us they lost our application and that we were free to go elsewhere, only to find they had in fact connected us and didn't tell us! They really have shit service.

Questions:

1. Should I be complaining higher? They've never told us what's the problem, obviously the don't know, and nor have they sent someone out to check.

2. Can I get out of the contract?

3. Do I have any great alternatives? I don't want wireless. I want DSL or similar (I don't know that my condo can take fibre or not - I don't think so, but i really just don't know).

I have TOT and NO Internet since 3 Days

Countless calls to 1100 and complaining, getting told, the "Technician" here in Pattaya is "working on it"

I asked them to advice the Technician to call me, when he is on fixing the Problem - not 1 call yet

Interestingly and not understandable for me:

in my Apartment House, a Friend has also TOT and the Connection is quite fine

the only Difference between him and me: he has a brand new Modem, while mine is over 3 Years old

Could it be, that my Modem fails to establish the Internet Connection?

Anything is possible...could be the modem...could be wiring running from your apartment....could be a connection point anywhere along the line from your apartment to the TOT central station....could be most anything.

If your friend is willing maybe you could borrow his modem for a few minutes, hook it to your line, enter your logon User ID and PW into the modem setup and see if you can then make an internet connection.

If you and your friend attempt this just be sure he knows what his User ID and PW is and one or both of you know how to re-enter that info into your respective modems to get you back to your original state on both modems.

And if you happen to be using a Wifi setup, maybe it's just your Wifi connection between your computer and modem/router. Try doing a hardwire/ethernet connection directly from your computer to the modem....if your internet starts working then you just have a Wifi problem....not a TOT internet or physical line problem. Good luck.

I have ring them many many times.

Thursday once - it was too late I knew noone would look at it

Friday, at least three times and then we were told to wait out

Saturday another at least twice I recall, but the misses called them as well.

The calls have all been the same, we have someone looking at your problem "right now!". Yeah right. So...

I called them this morning (Sunday) at 4am. Guess what, they told me again that someone is looking at my problem right now!!! I challenged her several times and she was adamant. I asked her to call him and have him call us. She obviously refused. This was getting ridiculous. I asked that they seriously try and resolve the issue.

I called them just a few moments ago. And now they have changed their tune. There is no problem with the dsl signal. The problem is in my building. I don't believe them because the only maintenance guy that plays with telecoms was away the day it all went down. I went down and spoke to him anyway and he adamantly swears the line inside the building is good. Unfortunately tree is no way to test this because the building has no signal/line testing equipment. So now HE will contact tot tomorrow.

This is F@)/)d up!

Well where I am I have a choice...TOT or TOT. However mine is normally reliable. Had DSL till a couple months ago as it got slower and slower as I'm at about the limit of distance from the Dslam and as more subscribers added..slower and dropouts, especially when school opened and evening game shop time. So have wireless now TOT) and working fine. Yes I may only be able to get 2M speed outside of Thailand but beats 256 from the DSL which was to be a 2M.

This gets better, and seriously f'd up!

We spoke to the maintenance guy last night, he said the issue was not inside the building (for reasons previously stated). So we called ToT. "He'll be there in 10 minutes". We looked out the window a few minutes later and his car was in the parking lot. We waited...

and waited... I went down to find him and got the run around by building staff and in the meantime, the misses called me, he's gone to the next building. She come down to wait for him to leave that building, but he was too quick and drove straight off. He just left.

My wife called them again and they responded, "He went there, you weren't there. He checked the line and you have a signal... He fix."

"Errm, no he didn't. We've been waiting and we saw him drive past."

They asked us to check our line. We did. Dead.

Called again, asked he return ASAP...

We watched him drive in... TO THE OTHER BUILDING!!

ToT called us back. "You're not home."

We explained we're downstairs waiting for him, he drove to the wrong building. She gave my wife the phone number and she called him.

He came over to our building and checked the main distribution board... There was no amazement in his eyes, he knew there was no signal. He'd "reconnected" it in the exchange to the WRONG BUILDING!!!

For whatever reason ToT deemed fit, they disconnected us last Thursday, and upon initially "fixing" the problem they connected it back to the wrong building. As far as they were concerned, it was connected and there was a signal. Just not to my room.

Once he found the problem, he said he had stuff to do, we went back to the room and sure enough about 10 minutes later the internet was working... Amazing.

Begs to ask, why was it disconnected in the first place? Typical telecoms tradition: <Assumption> "errm, we can't find a spare cable, we'll just use this one. If someone complains, then we know someone was using it"</assumption>

There is an addendum to this story. He actually came up to our room to check and funnily enough we'd been using the internet for about half hour before he arrived, but then we got onto other things. When he arrived it was no longer working again. I asked my wife to ask him, what he just did in the last few minutes to make it not work. He didn't answer her. I prompted to ask him again. She did, he totally stared right thru her as if she wasn't even talking. Three times she asked... Imbecile! He called somewhere and it was back on again.

Do ToT search the country for the dumbest and most ill mannered and ignorant people to do their work?
