Streaming Fareed Zakaria Gps Stopped Working

Featured Replies

OK, there's a very good weekly USA based CNN news program called Fareed Zakaria GPS which I enjoy watching.

For a long time, no problem streaming from this website --

http://globalpublicsquare.blogs.cnn.com/category/gps-episodes/

Now, the most current shows fail to play, showing this message:

The video timed out attempting to play. Please ensure that you do not have any Flash or JavaScript blocking plugins active.

On the very same page, OLDER episodes still do play.

I'm not aware of any technical change I've made to block those plugins. On the other hand, not sure how to check for that, though I'm skeptical that's really the issue. I have tried on IE, Firefox, and Chrome, same results.

Why am I am posting?

Well, first of all, can some of you (in Thailand) test the page on your system and see if you get the same message? The episodes that are failing are 18 Sept and 12 Sept.

Also, any ideas on checking for the plugin blocks.

Also, know of any other ways to stream this show?

Thanks.

Don't konw how to find out which dates the episodes are, maybe give us the titles?

But the one that appears on the webpaeg I get excatly the same message as you.

Edit: trying any of the other episodes gets me an 'operation aborted' message.

Watch GPS: Jeff Immelt and a Middle East roundtable -- 18 Sept

Watch GPS: Donald Rumsfeld on 9/11 -- 12 Sept

You lost me. The title for 18 Sept is UNDER the screen. Thanks for trying anyway.

Your reports about failed play adds evidence to my skepticism that the real problem is related to their error message.

I get the same error message as Jing on both episodes when I try to view it from the UK.

Pointing to it being an error in the way they are serving it. Any US based readers? Could you try it? If it works in the US and not abroad that would make a kind of sense.

Tried watching the videos using a VPN connection from Dallas.

Same result as OP.

Well, thanks for the clues. I give up. I found the content at a site called learnoutloud. Not sure if the streaming works because it was taking forever to load, but the download option did work.

Same thing here in the US on IE8 and FF6.0.2: The video timed out attempting to play. Please ensure that you do not have any Flash or JavaScript blocking plugins active. :annoyed:

Same as OP from Chiang Mai on 3BB. I will add that for many months I could not watch any CNN Videos. I received the same error message. This only occurred with CNN and I had no problems with any other locations. I even wrote to CNN. Surprisingly, I received near instant responses from a CNN tech company who tried to remedy the problem. You should try to contact them.

In the end, I was using OpenDNS. Running some tests, I found that my CNN connection was exceptionally slow. Beyond my technical ability to understand why. When I switched back to my default 3BB DNS server, the videos all worked (except the one the OP is now questioning).
