PHUKET: -- The Thai Meteorological Department has issued another tropical storm warning coviering much of Thailand, including the Andaman provinces of Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.

The Thai Meteorological Department issued its initial warning after tropical storm “Haitang” made landfall at Hu, Vietnam at 4am yesterday.

The national weather office re-issued its warning at 10:30 last night, following a day of severe weather conditions yesterday in many parts of the country.

“People along foothills, near waterways and in lowlands are warned of possible flash floods,” said the warning.

Trat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun provinces were all named disaster risk areas.

Strong, winds are expected to whip waves in the Andaman Sea up to four meters high.

All ships should proceed with caution and small boats are urged to stay ashore until at least Friday.
