The world s smallest lotus will be displayed at Royal Flora 2011

CHIANGMAI, 30 September 2011 (NNT)-Any one planning to visit the Royal Flora 2011 in Chiangmai will get to see miniature lotuses that can only be seen here in the event in Thailand. They can also be grown in a container as small as a coffee cup.

The miniature lotuses are one of the tropical species and are the smallest in the world. They can be planted in a rice bowl or a coffee cup. They are mostly white with a slight shade of pink. They can thrive well in a sunny place or under the shade.

According to the report, these lotuses have recently been discovered in Madagascar. Deputy Director-General of the Department of Agriculture Mr. Damrong Jirasuthat said their size was being compared to a match and could be grown in a small container.

Royal Flora Event Manager Mr. Uppatham Nisitsukjaroen said there would be an exhibition on Thai lotuses of all species and the one and only miniature lotuses which would be displayed as well.
