A friend would like to move to Thailand. She is self-employed with an online business that requires only 3-4 hours a day of her time. She owns the business as a Sole Proprietor.

Is it possible for her to legally operate her business in Thailand?

She would be fine with paying taxes, getting a work permit (possible?) and whatever else is required.

She has asked my advice but I know next to nothing about how to make something like that work here.

Is it even possible? What should she do if she seriously wishes to explore her alternatives?

While it is possible to move a company by forming a branch or representative office, people from the US are the only nationality that can get a sole proprietorship in Thailand and then most Work Permit offices will not issue a work permit.

Her best option is to form a Thai limited Company with 2 Thai employees the first year and 4 Thai employees the second year and 2 million Baht in capitalization to be able to get a work permit
