Api Tech Cdis

Featured Replies

I'm sure many are familiar with API Tech and their CDIs.

What exactly will they enable you to do? Will you be able to completely change the powerband, getting it to peak at whatever RPM you want? Believe most come with 3 different fuel maps that you can program in.

How will it affect a stock bike compared to one with say, a Yoshi slip-on?

What type of fun things can you do with it?

Bike is CBR250R, API Tech have this on their site for 8,500thb:

http://www.apitechonline.com/Shopping/index.php?route=product/product&manufacturer_id=8&product_id=243

Faddybike have both a standalone ECU fixed, and a standalone ECU adjustable on their site. I'm still waiting for prices.

I'm considering playing with the set-up of the bike next year and looking for info on what exactly they will allow me to do.

Thanks.

increase power :) .....at the expense of fuel consumption and your 3 or 5 year warranty

not sure what exact results they would have on a CBR 250 but im sure someone has done it already if you google search the cbr threads :)

theres a few videos on youtube of them using a dyno and a honda clicks and waves

Not sure how it would affect the warranty as it's plug and play. If you have a warranty issue just put the original back on........simple reallybiggrin.gif

Cheers, I wouldn't be too worried about the warranty, and not too bothered about fuel economy either to be honest, but would be interested in what exactly I can do with it.

So you can change the a/f ratio for each rpm thus creating more power? And can change the shape of the powerband, so can shift the power up or down in the RPM range?

If so it sounds like a very fun tool to play with. :)

now thats not very honest ......tut tut tut :D

I've been looking at these recently.

The CDI Units are not the same as their ECU units, though the website is lacking in information.

It's an attractive price for a programable ECU, I was looking at a Microsquirt until I came across these. less flexible but PnP.

maybe not so necessary for a mostly stock motorci, but if you have bored, stroked and/or cammed your engine these seem good alternative to carbis for re-tuning.
