Part of it must be for the freight and distribution costs... as due to the time sensative nature, magazines and papers are all shipped via Airfreight

Part of it must be for the freight and distribution costs... as due to the time sensative nature, magazines and papers are all shipped via Airfreight But in Singapore and Malaysia which is the same distance from the UK they cost a fraction of what they are in Thailand so its not the freight costs, there must be a tax/duty/surcharge of some sort..same as the movies, you can get 5in1 for 79 Baht in Thai but the same Western movie in English is 3-5 times as much...yet it must have cost more to dub it in Thai.

Nothing to do with any of the above. It's because they're in 'passa FARANG'.
