Hi

Sorry if this is a reoccuring post, I had a bit of a search but couldn't find exactely what I wanted.

Ok so heres the deal....I am travelling from Sydney to Bangkok with Singapore Airlines in February, from there I am travelling overland through Laos, Vietnam, etc. My return fllight however if from Denpasar to Sydney in June.

What should I do?? I've heard some say get a visa, risk it or get a outgoing budget ticket. I will have to enter Thailand probably 3 times, so am I going to have to do this for every entry I make??

I'm just getting more and more confused.

Any help would be great!!

Cheers :o

Just get a visa to cover your air travel from OZ as airline could refuse to board you without it and an onward air ticket within 30 days and that would not be a good start.

If you plan to use air travel in the area you could buy that ticket, if within 30 days, in place of the visa.

Overland travel is not a problem as you will be able to obtain 30 day stamp on each entry to Thailand and they only thing that is sometimes checked is your ability to pay (10k baht).

Do the Thai land Borders such as Cambodian/Thai crossing require you to prove onward travel or do they just give you the 30 day stamp??

You/ll be ok overland i/ve never been asked to show any onward ticket at Cambodian or Malaysian borders when travelling overland.

The main problem is when your flying in, thats when you can be asked by your carrier at check-in to show such proof.

Just get yourself a 60 day tourist visa from an embassy in Australia before you leave. That way singapore airlines will not have any problem letting you onto the flight to Bangkok.

The immigration at Bangkok should not be a problem, neither should any of your land crossings as long as you obtain the necessary visa's in advance.(these can be obtained in Bangkok)

You should not need to buy any other local (S.E. Asia) flights for any other visa purposes, unless YOU WANT to fly.

I overlanded several year ago from Bkk to Bali and I had a ticket into Bangkok and out of Bali, I had no problems as i had the Thai 60 day tourist visa.

Have a great trip.

Cheers, 8ball.
