Cannot Call Dtac From Skype Or Gvoice Or Calling Card

I cannot call a mobile number that is with DTAC unless I call directly from my Canadian mobile phone which is a very expensive call. I have bought credits with Skype and I just get routed to a voicemail after about 1 ring. I have bought credits on Google Voice and I get routed to a voicemail after 3-6 rings. I have bought a iTalk calling card from thaitelephone.com and it also goes to a voicemail of some sort after about 3 or 4 rings.

But the call works perfectly fine if I call directly from my mobile phone which is a super expensive call at 23 Baht a minute. I do not want to call from my mobile phone and would prefer to use Skype or a calling card. Has anyone else come across this issue calling DTAC?

Try replacing the 0011 at the start of the number with a + sign.

When I ring Australia with viopcheapcom

A normal number for NSW would be 001612xxxxxxxx

But with voipcheapcom it is +612xxxxxxxx so maybe to ring a home phone

in Thailand from Canada you need to use

+66xxxxxxxx or mobile +66xxxxxxxxx

With the mobile number you do not use the first 0 and home phone you do not

use the 0 before the area code.

Hope this helps.

It should work without the problems you mention. I use Skype all the time and never ever have an issue calling cells vs landlines in Thailand.

Maybe keep testing with her, perhaps the call displayed phone number is weird and she wont answer, unless you have a skype phone number with your number programmed for the call display option often it will show 00000000000 or 0000123123123

A little off topic, but if you are calling Canada or they are calling you look into Magic Jack PLUS it is new and doesnt require a computer, unlike the old ones that you plug into your laptop, both work really well.

I know it's not a case of her not answering because we have tested it while chatting on MSN. The phone does not ring on the other end but I get to voicemail. When I dial from my mobile phone I dial 011-66-8xxxxxxxx and no problems. From Skype I select Thailand as the country from the drop down with automatically puts the +66 then I put 8xxxxxxxx after with no zero in front. From Google Voice I put 011-66-8xxxxxxxx and I also tried putting +668xxxxxxxx and both do the same thing (Google Voice did work for one or 2 calls a few weeks ago). Maybe it's something weird on her phone that is blocking calls that are not in her contact list? But I did register my mobile number for call display on Skype so that doesn't make much sense if that was the case.
