Came back from Bangkok yesterday, had a game of squash 2pm fell heavily and sprained my right wrist.

Went to Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin to check it was only a sprain, waited 3 1/2 hours, then walked out. Entered San Paulo was X Rayed withing 30 minutes. :whistling: Great service.

Their appointment system is a joke. Even with appointments, I've had waits of between 2 and 4 hours. Out of 4 visits, all with appointments, the only occasion I was seen on time, was when I turned up over an hour earlier than arranged, just to see what happened. I have no idea why they put walk-in patients (non-emergency), ahead of appointed patients, but they seem to do that in an effort to see as many people as possible. I guess it's a business after all..........

Not impressed by this or the quality of doctor. Won't be going back.

I had been there at a weekday afternoon. No doctor available.

Every upcountry hospital is better organized.

They are still far away from the level of other branches, except their charges.

I guess anyone can have a bad experience at any hospital. I've been to San Paulo, Hua Hin Government Hospital, and Bangkok Hospital and I would rate San Paulo at the bottom of the three in my personal experience. They misdiagnosed me there and I thought I was going to die overnight until the Hua Hin Polyclinic opened the next morning and promptly told me San Paulo gave the wrong diagnosis and to stop taking the medicine the hospital gave me. The clinic gave me different meds and I started to feel better within a few hours after taking them. The charge at SP for the incorrect diagnosis and meds was 2k baht. The charge for the correct diagnosis and meds at the Polyclinic was 700 baht.

I've been to Hua Hin Hospital emergency room once and was treated very well and have had a couple of appointments at Bangkok hospital for minor things. I was also treated well and on time there.

I guess it was not the San Paulo Hospital who missdiagnosed you but ONE doctor? Of course it seem you have much more experiences it seem you often consult medical services. Happy 6 years I had nothing serious, just go each year for the complete check at 6800 THB get all datas, CD ROM and a final talk with the doctor and this are each ime very very constructive. Same check with less datas in BKK Hospital would be near 13'000.

It can happen everywhere ..... in Chiang Mai Rama Hospital I show to the doctor with my hand on the breast and cough, explain I need something against bronchitis and I got 2 medicaments against ulcerated stomach so check what you take

I have used the 'Poly clinic' a few times and found them to be fast, cheerful, and overall give an excellent service. X-rays available on the spot - mine was for a chest infection, so I'm sure they could do wrists etc. Very reasonable charges as well.

I have registered at the 'Bangkok', but when I called in re the chest infection they said that they didn't have a 'chest specialist' so I went onto the Poly. The 'Bangkok' looks great , but it sounds as though the service is not upto the looks and a lot more expensive from what I've read and heard.

Hua Hin hospitol is also very good....facilities, staff, cleanliness, just because its not private dosnt mean its not as good as the above mentioned hospitols....although you do have to mix with the local population and there isnt much room to park a Honda Accord so may not suit some..(=jerk.gifsmile.png

i was at the hua hin hospital today with my girlfriend and was very impressed with the whole place and the service. i saw a sign on one of the doors regarding "international enquiries" or something, so went to speak to the lady, and asked her if farang are welcome at the hospital. She said we were more than welcome and paid the same as thais, except for a 315B surcharge.

I asked her, if I were involved in an accident, what is the procedure for hospitalisation. she said the medics would ask where I would like to be taken. i said i have insurance, so would i be better going to bangkok hospital, sao paulo or hua hin state hospital. she said, i would be better to ask to be taken to hua hin hospital initially, as at hua hin hospital they always have a full team of specialist doctors working (neurologists etc) whereas at bangkok hospital, they may only have a general doctor on, and so would send you to hua hin hospital, if you required such treatment. she also wrote down a number for me that people may want to hang onto - 032523000 ext 8130, ask for international

she also said they have valet parking for their best patients, and anyone with a honda accord would be well taken care of jap.gif

That's good to know, and very interesting coming from a representative of Bangkok Hospital-Hua Hin.

I have been having problems with a particular tooth and before Xmas I had enough and decided to have it out, my Thai wife phoned Bangkok Hospital in the morning and arranged an appointment for a tooth extraction for 5.00pm later that day. We turned up just before 5.00 and reported to reception, after a couple of minutes of Thai chat I sensed a problem, they had booked the appointment at the main hospital in Bangkok and the dentist at Hua Hin had gone home. So not happy and in pain they make another appointment for the next day at 3.00pm, I ask for some good pain killers to see me through to the extraction.By now we have an administrator with us and we get directed to a room where my blood pressure is taken, I'm thinking I just want some pain killers, then to a doctors office, pain killers please and finally to the pharmacy. After 5 mins 3 small bags of pills were produced with an invoice for 2000 baht, now I'm really not happy. I'm a wheelchair user so had to take a taxi to the hospital, 200 Baht and home another 200 Baht and now they want to charge me for something I wouldn't have needed if they hadn't ..... up the appointment. The wife had her purse out and didn't want a scene, I didn't want a scene but I didn't want to pay for something that wasn't my fault. After trying to explain my problem with the head of the pharmacy, she called up stairs and made an offer of 10% discount, I told her politely where to put the 10% and that I wasn't paying anything. The break in the stand off came when the administrator arrived again and to the hospital's credit a deal was made. No charge for anything today and the hospital mini van will pick me up and take me home tomorrow, a fair result.

Why did we always have to fight in Thailand for a just and fair solution to a problem that was not our fault, do the Thais shut up and pay up? My wife comes from N.E.Thailand and anytime she comes in contact with officaildome she curls up like a helpless puppy, she has been living in London for the last 5 years and has a decent job but as soon as she has contact with a policeman, lawyer, accountant, government official, even in the bank, the helpless puppy appears, I try and help her and explain that she is paying for a service from these people so that really makes her the boss, even though she comes from the N.E of Thailand.
