Popular Thai artist Lanna Commins will also be performing at the four-day festival in Phuket Town.

PHUKET: -- Popular Thai artist Todd Tongdee Lavelle, a main organizer of the Phuket World Musiq Festival, has confirmed the lineup of artists who will be performing at the event.

The festival, to honor the 84th birthday of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, will be held at Saphan Hin, in Phuket Town, from December 2-5.

The festival will open on December 2 with a performance by the Phuket Symphony of Youth and culminate on December 5 with Thai National Artist Naowarat Pongpaiboon leading the “Father of Love” celebration in honor of His Majesty.

The daily concerts are scheduled to start at 4pm and continue to midnight.

The concerts are free and will showcase not only music from Thailand, but also artists from around the world.

From Northern Thailand will be the beautiful Lanna Commins, while the KoKaiNaiSon band from Southern Thailand will be demonstrating that region's style of country music.

Na Yong & Team from the central plains will supply the rap, while Nga Caravan’s contemporary rock and Khun Inn’s unique xylophone style add to the mix.

An Uruk Lawaoi Phuket sea gypsy band will also be headlining the event.

Worldwide music styles include Americana (a mix of blues, folk, soul, rock and roll), Batucada (Brazilian drums) and several others. Middle Eastern music will be headlined by renowned sintir player Hassan Hakmoun.

Todd Tongdee’s troupe Hammapan will also be performing their internationally showcased songs and dances.

PHUKET: -- One of the lead organizers of the World Musiq Fest to be launched tomorrow evening at Saphin Hin in Phuket Town says he wants to see the concert audiences reflecting the name and character of the festival itself.

"It's that magic mix of Thais and foreigners enjoying things together that generates the atmosphere and buzz to create a truly successful event in Thailand," says national music idol Todd Lavelle Tongdee.

The American from Scranton, Pennsylvania, is in a position to know. He has lived in Thailand more than 20 years and is fluent in Thai, written and spoken.

The concerts are all in honor of His Majesty the King Bhumipol Adulyadej, who celebrates his 84th birthday on December 5.

The festival takes place December 2-5. Organized by the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization, lead by Chairman Paiboon Upatising, Phuket Municipality and Todd Tongdee himself, the event is billed as "a borderless celebration of the music and culture of Phuket, Thailand and Planet Earth."

The concerts start at 4pm each day and close at midnight. Entry is free of charge.

The World Musiq Fest is sponsored by Singha Corporation, the Phuket Gazette and PGTV.
