Did any of that really happen and who amongst us has the gift to foretell ?

Admittedly my predictions were rather boring (just to start off the thread), but I didn't do too badly.

My first prediction (Harold Camping predicting the end of the world) was wrong; the Mayas had already done it.

Two (earthquake or volcanic eruption) was, thankfully, wrong, though there's still time.

The other six of my eight were right. Now for 2013......

Onion Luke, we're still waiting for those sprouts....

My prediction for 2012 is that Scottish rugby fans will continue to demonstrate a level of belief and faith that puts creationists and flat-earthers to shame, and the only game for the remainder of the season that either Region will win is the 1872 Cup.

Man suffers from sprouts overdose

Not one of our posters?

Now being forced into retirement, I do most of my own cooking. Yesterday, wandering around my local Tesco's, I saw some very nice-looking Br. sprouts (I refuse to acknowledge the first part of that name as being anything meaningful) and bought a kilo.

Cooked some that evening. Marvellous!

Will cook the remainder today, for lunch and dinner. First lot with rice and curry, second lot with a stew.

They are also a reminder of Christmas for me - in that in my childhood (after the war had ended) my mother used to send me down the garden on Christmas morning to pick a few dozen sprouts for Christmas lunch. It was, in my memory, always cold, maybe a heavy frost, and the things are impossible to cut off while wearing gloves. Thus my fingers were frozen stiff when I was halfway through the task and took the rest of the day to thaw out.

Ahhhh, memories of Christmas past.

(But the sprouts are boooooooootiful)

Massive drought. Of water first, then beer as valuable water required for beer making is drunk pure.

Yingluck survives a full year then steps down sighting pathological hyperemotionalism. Thaksin doesn't return.

In the UK, the coalition collapses in the first quarter due to disagreements over NHS funding. Rupert Murdoch's papers show an increase in advertising space devoted to private healthcare providers, and the Tories get back in with a landslide,

Obama gets re-elected as the Republicans split into three factions - the Christians, the fascists and the Texans.

Europe continues from crisis to crisis, the Euro shrinks to 4 countries.

I meet a guy with two teenage kids and Thai wife, kids don't speak English, he doesn't speak Thai, I'm no longer surprised.

Thailand becomes the hub of twelfty seven more things.

My girlfriend realises that Big C is cheaper than the market for pork, because they're not thieving little shits who give you 300g when you asked for 500g whilst still charging the half kilo price.

You got the hub prediction correct

the liberals in the USA will continue to blame the conservatives for the POTUS and the majority Government to continue on it's road on ineptitude. The global economy will stay flat with a blips of growth in Asia; India, Singapore, Burma and Indonesia.

...and the main stream media will assist the Liberals every way possible.

I predict that the rednecks will eventually work out that their next years predictions should be on a new, appropriately entitled, thread.

Naw. The rednecks are running a year behind on our news. We watch CNN and BBC.

Humph, Brussels sprouts? really? in Thailand or you are elsewhere?

And you want a 2013 prediction thread go start one,

Time sprouts can travel freely between 2012 and 2013 .

Naw. The rednecks are running a year behind on our news. We watch CNN and BBC.

Time you upgraded to Al Jazeera.

Those other two, once great, news channels are now just full of self promoting and PC crap.

Aren't they all?thumbsup.gif

I'm back home in Cambridge (the original and only true one) (home of knowledge and education beyond compare).

It's raining again, floods have cut off some routes - both road and rail - but not as serious as in the West of England.

I've left Thailand, probably for good. I was losing too much money staying there - maintenance of an expensive wife and more expensive business. So I packed my bags and stole quietly away.
