Darko Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I'm sure this question has been asked numerous times before so apologies in advance. I'm flying into Bangkok and staying in Thailand for a period not exceeding 29 days. I'm then leaving the country to visit Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam and will be reentering the country (probably from Vietnam) for another period less than 29 days and flying home from Bangkok. I know that an Irish national does not require a visa to enter Thailand if the purpose of visit is tourism only, which it is and if the duration of stay does not exceed 29 days, which it doesn't albeit only for each of 2 separate visits. However, as I'm not in possession of a pre-booked flight from Thailand within 29 days does this mean I do need a tourist visa and if I do is it a double entry tourist visa I need. Any advice would be appreciated.
lopburi3 Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 You should have a single entry visa or risk the airline leaving you at home. There is usually the alternative of buying a full fare outbound ticket if you have time but I would just get a visa to be sure. You will not have a problem returning to Thailand from your outside trip as you will then have a ticket out (and if done by land it is never asked for anyhow).
Darko Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 Thanks. I should have explained that I already have a return flight home booked from Bangkok. As my return flight exceeds 29 days from my arrival do you think it's best to get a double entry tourist visa as I'm leaving Thailand but returning to it to fly home.
lopburi3 Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 You should have a visa for your first entry because you do not have a return flight within 30 day. You do have a return flight within 30 days for entry two so no visa is required (you just get the 30 day stamp). If you want to buy a two entry tourist visa you will have the extra security of up to 8 weeks stay both times but it is really not required if you are sure of your departure date not being changed.
Darko Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 Thanks a lot lopburi3. That makes perfect sense.
