Look in the news section and you'll see "Crackdown" and "Hub" in over half of the stories. The newspapers have a similar problem. Are you all as tired of seeing those words as I am? Do you wish someone would send a thesaurus to whoever writes the press releases and news copy?

I don't write 'em... just post 'em... :o

But you gotta laugh hey? :D

Tell me... do news bulletins in say Canada or the US (or any western nation for that matter) use these words as prolifically as here?

This is my personal fav- from Nov 22cnd Nation News:

Toilet Hub

After aspiring to be an international hub of major world businesses like tourism, fashion, medical care, auto production and the jewellery trade, Thailand now at least is striving for something closer to reality – becoming a toilet hub. :o

yes.. it does seem they are somewhat over used... maybe we can suggest some alternative words to use in the headlines...

TV could become the hub of alternative headlines... doh... :o

totster :D

Dunno without Hub/Crackdown - wouldnt be thailand!! :o

I'd prefer to repleace the words "wouldn't" with "would be". Bangkok ain't the same place nowadays.

what about a crackdown on hubs?  :o

That would make it the crackdown hub.... it's a vicious circle that just feeds upon itself.

What if we called them crackups, then it would be more like a party.

I'm getting paranoid when I hear someone saying a word that begins with "cr..." .or" hu.."

hub of hub syndrome? :o

Thailand  ...  Crackdown hub of Asia  :o

International tour promoters probably won't find it too catchy... :D

I knew that we'd find common ground sometime  :o

I've turned over a new leaf doc... :D

Nope, I was thinking more along the lines of the toes of a humped, long-necked ruminant mammal of the genus Camelus... :D
