January 25, 201214 yr I don't think RP would ignore either of those countries if they were attacked - as long as Congress declared war as laid out in the Constitution. In fact, from the debate I got the feeling that as President, Ron Paul would have no problem with war in general as long as it is constitutionally declared. I agree As for the rest of your post I am glad to hear you just misunderstood or my post was not clear. I can see how it may be considered inflammatory to say stand on their own two feet. But I meant it in a good way...really....meaning those that do will more likely seek solutions other than unlimited response backed by others.
January 25, 201214 yr No, you either don't get it, are misinformed, or are in active denial. The lovely Mr. Paul is explicitly against the Jewish nationalist movement, called Zionism, which resulted in the founding of Israel. Like Helen Thomas in that way. He is an embarrassment to the rep. party and rightly so.
January 25, 201214 yr ... Jingthing appeared in this thread in OTB out of nowhere, could it be he searches for the word "Israel" every day? ... What an obnoxious, and totally false accusation.
January 25, 201214 yr This is funny. How much do liberals prefer to run Obama against Gingrich rather than Fakey McRich Romney? This much ... Go Newt! The push signals a growing belief among Democrats that they may have a real chance at helping to derail Romney, who has long been viewed as Obama’s most formidable GOP opponent but is reeling from a loss to Gingrich in South Carolina. Gingrich is leading Romney in many polls ahead of Tuesday’s Florida primary. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/liberal-groups-join-in-fla-ad-war-against-mitt-romney/2012/01/24/gIQAYY5tQQ_story.html
January 25, 201214 yr ... Jingthing appeared in this thread in OTB out of nowhere, could it be he searches for the word "Israel" every day? ... What an obnoxious, and totally false accusation. I'm on the pro-Israel side with you but, really, when was the last time you were here in OTB? It seems - at least to me - that you haven't been here in months then all of a sudden you appear to defend Israel. Anyway, the remark wasn't meant to offend you. Maybe the windmill part was though. It's well known how much you hate anything Republican - except the fact that they are Israel's staunchest supporters in the US.
January 25, 201214 yr Back to the way you worded it, it sounds like RP is anti-Israel, and by default, pro-Palestinian. He is anti-Israel. People that have worked with him in the past confirm this. If you want to support Paul's views on the economy, that is up to you, but as Jingthing said, besides his racist newsletters, he has been in bed with some really nasty racist characters and all his denials and spin does not change that fact. IMO, that video that Jingthing posted is pretty much what Ron Paul really thinks when he is not on stage.
January 25, 201214 yr Gingrich in trouble now. A former Asst Sec of State under Reagan shows how Gingrich insulted and disagreed with Reagan's during the 80's... http://www.nationalr...ott-abrams?pg=1 Here is Gingrich: “Measured against the scale and momentum of the Soviet empire’s challenge, the Reagan Administration has failed, is failing, and without a dramatic change in strategy will continue to fail. . . . President Reagan is clearly failing.” Why? This was due partly to “his administration’s weak policies, which are inadequate and will ultimately fail”; partly to CIA, State, and Defense, which “have no strategies to defeat the empire.” But of course “the burden of this failure frankly must be placed first on President Reagan.” Such was Gingrich’s faith in President Reagan that in 1985, he called Reagan’s meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev “the most dangerous summit for the West since Adolf Hitler met with Neville Chamberlain in 1938 in Munich.” There's a lot more but Fair Use limits what I can post here so check out the link.
January 25, 201214 yr Newt really is toxic when it comes to the presidential race. http://www.humaneven...le.php?id=49068

January 26, 201214 yr I support Gingrich for the nomination. I honestly believe somebody smart should become President and the last three years have proven the guy in there now does not fill that need. Support for Israel will only become an issue on this forum. It is hardly a bell ringer in any of the debates. Now if the liberal media think it can cause problems for any of the Republicans and help Obama, they will use it to it's fullest. Ron Paul is so far out of it he is rapidly becoming an afterthought. Romney is self destructing and Santorum was never in it (even with Iowa). The main stream media and Democratic party supporters will do everything they can to get Gingrich out of the picture. His brain and ideas are clearly a threat to Obama, since he is possessed with little of either. Here are a few quotes from his SOTU address, which by the way has been rated as an 8th grade level reading assignment. ____________________________________________________ "I went ... I know ... January 26, 201214 yr I support Gingrich for the nomination. I honestly believe somebody smart should become President To call questions "absurd" and attack the questioner for having the temerity to ask it, doesn't necessarily make the respondant smart. It might work a couple of times but after that it just gives the appearance of arrogance and bluster.

Would you expose your family and friends to constant hostile scrutiny, and tolerate every word you ever said in public being scrutinised and frequently misquoted to suit someone else's agenda? To cap all that, you would be unable to promote what you really think; you would have to speak up for whatever your party decides you should think.

If Israel was the only issue important to me, or the most important issue to me, I would always vote republican. But alas, I never vote republican. Well, I did once and was burned (the candidate won and then changed from a liberal republican to a right wing one). The most important US issues to me are:health care energy independence environment free speech issues/privacy issues tax reform money corruption in politics, the lobbyists rules, the poor and middle class don't matter employment fixing economic inequality education fixing infrastructure civil rights for minorities, most critically African Americans, Muslims, and gays foreign policy -- Iran. Iran getting nukes is not only about Israel, it is about the entire world

So you don't think asking Gingrich a debate lead off question about a 20 year old personal problem was absurd? John King should have asked questions about current events, not try a 'gotcha' question on him. King's question and the timing of it was 'absurd'.

So...you have seen Obama's school transcripts and he got good grades? Being able to speak in a monotone and read prepared speeches off a teleprompter doesn't make one smart, only robotic.
January 26, 201214 yr If anything, Newt at least makes things interesting. I can't imagine a more boring debate than Obama vs Other Obama.
January 26, 201214 yr If anything, Newt at least makes things interesting. I can't imagine a more boring debate than Obama vs Other Obama. Michelle? In any case, the republican choices are dismal. They have handed the reelection to Obama on a platter. I don't think most Obama supporters are honestly going to say Obama has performed brilliantly, but compared to Romney or Gingrich who clearly don't care a wit about the most important issue of our day, economic inequality and depression level suffering, it really is no contest. It used to be there were decent republicans even democrats could consider. No longer of course. Reagan would be too liberal to be nominated today. The so called corporate "Obamacare" program which republicans absurdly call communist is far to the right of what RICHARD NIXON proposed! It really is incredible. Go ahead and nominate your doughy fascist buffoon Gingrich and see where it gets you. Bring it on!
January 26, 201214 yr If anything, Newt at least makes things interesting. I can't imagine a more boring debate than Obama vs Other Obama. Very true.I don't think he can win the general election, but he certainly makes the debates more interesting.
January 26, 201214 yr If anything, Newt at least makes things interesting. I can't imagine a more boring debate than Obama vs Other Obama. IMO that would be Obama vs Romney. Both know only what they are told. Both give nothing but prepared answers. Both have led their lives with the purpose of getting elected. Obama joined Rev Wright's church not because he believed in God (three years in DC and still doesn't belong to a church), but because as a half-white, half-Kenyan in Chicago, he needed to convince the black voter he was one of them. Romney, has changed his position on issues over the past as needed. The only thing keeping the debate from being a real snoozer would be to see Obama speak in public without a teleprompter for the first time in nearly 4 years. He'll have several Bush moments for sure. Romney won't be much better, stuttering as he tries to remember the question after digressing into one of his talking points.

Obama supporters? It'll take more than that 40% to win the election. That is unless Dems start padding the results with dead people again.
January 26, 201214 yr Dont like Newt too mean and arrogant, seems he would fit perfectly into Thaivisa though, probably end up starting another war. He's been around so long, he surely has deep connections to pocket things for his cronies on the down low. I was watching the news and it was said every candidate that won the South Carolina debate ended up being President. Unfortunately another election with shit for candidates. Romney is the only one i trust halfway...Randpaul isn't going to win, not enough support. This is probably the only time ive ever 'feared' that the President will be Newt. Whats the deal with Israel anyway? Why does the US have to support them? Why not just let them battle it out with the Palestinians and let the winner reign?

I can guarantee you that RandPaul will NOT win. You haven't been very alert if you haven't noticed the current administration doing a grand job of cronie capitallism. Now Obama is even helping Buffett make millions more with his railroad hauling the oil they can't send by the Keystone pipeline because Obama didn't approve the pipeline. It gets worse every day.
January 26, 201214 yr ... I was watching the news and it was said every candidate that won the South Carolina debate ended up being President. ... Wrong! The NOMINATION for the dumbo elephant party. Not the presidency. Big difference, snookums. Also, only since 1980 when the primary started! Not exactly a massive history. I feel right now its 50-50, Romney vs. Gingrich for the nomination. They'll both be tearing each other apart for many months so whoever wins will be horribly weakened. Hurrah! wiki Republican results 1980: Ronald Reagan won with 55%, defeating runner-up John Connally. 1984: Uncontested (Reagan was the incumbent president and was re-nominated). 1988: George H. W. Bush won with 49%, defeating runner-up Bob Dole. 1992: George H. W. Bush won with 67%, defeating runner-up Pat Buchanan. 1996: Bob Dole won with 45%, defeating runner-up Pat Buchanan. 2000: George W. Bush won with 53%, defeating runner-up John McCain. 2004: Uncontested (Bush was the incumbent president and was re-nominated). 2008: John McCain won with 33%, defeating runner-up Mike Huckabee. 2012: Newt Gingrich won with 40%, defeating runner-up Mitt Romney.

January 26, 201214 yr <deleted>! President Obama is very smart! But.....he trashed the list you posted in a previous post......And it was a pretty good list This is part of the problem with the beautifully broken system we have here in the USA I mean face it Obama might be a nice person but he has been a terrible president. Really ineffective & I bet a majority of the Democrats feel that way. Yet they are stuck with him? Why? Why can't the Dem's let someone else run also. Why is it written in stone they need to support the current choice Why not repair this system & allow choice. Yeah not gonna happen I know...so?............. They limit their own possibilities & everyone else's too. Many Republicans are also not happy with there parties choices as usual. Yet the party line towing Republicans will be in the same spot as the party line towing Dem's The system is beautifully broken Add none of the above to the ballot & see the proof. How many times must we choose the least worst person for the job
January 26, 201214 yr I agree I want a better choice. But of the possible choices, Obama is still massively better. Yes the political system does seem broken and it is worrying. People are openly admiring the way autocratic China gets things down. A good sign we really are in trouble.
