Island Still As Lovely As Ever? Damage?

Featured Replies

Hello,

My wife and I are coming to KS for the first time on the 8th of Dec. Staying at the Chaweng Buri (any comments?) and are very much looking forward to our visit.

Are things still in good shape there? What is this alcohol ban I have heard of?? (what good is a vacation with no libations??!!). Is the water going to be suitable for scuba diving by Dec 8?

Thanks very much, appreciate all of the info on this forum!!

Chris

Sleerchris,

The island will be ok once flood waters receed.Chaweng Buri is nice.

Alcohol ban , well it mostly applies at the moment to the sale through retail outlets 11 to 2pm & 5 to midnight.Bars have been notified , well in Lamai at least that closing time is 1am.I am sure that you will have a pleasant holiday.

Re Scuba diving. (can't say for certain) The water should be fine by Dec 8th as it has been in previous years, however, this year is a bit freaky weather wise.

I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself - have fun

Hey guys - my wife and I went diving in Samui (Sail Rock - brilliant) back July. I went back to do some diving a few weeks ago and due to the rain and wind (not that bad for the rainy season) the visibility was very variable. Having seen the pictures of the flooding and the ongoing weather forcast I would honestly suggest that if you can you give it a few more weeks to settle down. Its 50/50 IMHO whether the seas will clear in time for Dec 8. Hope this helps - have a great time in Samui - it rocks.
