"Visa Bureau Enjoys Making Life Hard"

Featured Replies

There was a letter in the Bangkok Posts, Postbag today:

The letter is signed by "Disgruntled James"

Can I ask if "Disgruntled James" is a reader of this forum, could he, or indeed anybody else, shed any light on this?

I suspect it is, as we English say, poppycock.

I read the same article this morning, first question I thought of was "why?"

A reminder that you can name the Bangkok post but can not link or quote their content. The Bangkok Post does not allow this.

Pardon my thickness but for the life of me I can't find that article would someone be so kind as to pm me the url?

It was in the paper under Readers letters.

Bob, just do a Google search of the title of this read,"Visa Bureau Enjoys Making Life Hard", including the quotes, there will be only 3 results.

Sorry, but what does it no allow?

I understand it doesn't want that one copy its articles in another place on the Internet,

but I don't see why it would not authorise a link to its article on its site??

From the forum rules:

31) Bangkok Post do not allow quotes from their news articles or other material to appear on Thaivisa.com. Neither do they allow links to their publications. Posts from members containing quotes from or links to Bangkok Post publications will be deleted from the forum. Please note that this is a decision by the Bangkok Post, not by Thaivisa.com and any complaints or other issues concerning this rule should be directed to them. Quotes from and links to Phuketwan are also not allowed and will also be removed. In special cases forum Administrators or the news team may use these sources.

Thanks. Forgot this part about links and really don't see the logic behind this decision??

Something wrong with this guys "friend" I thinks. Maybe the officer meant to leave the country to go to a Thai consulate or something but just telling him to "leave" sounds a bit fishy to me. Yes there is no "assurance" when living here. Did anyone say there was?

Pretty short letter, uninformative and void of any alleged facts...

Off the top of my head I can think of a few reasons why immigration would deny his application, starting with having been quietly requested to do so by the wife... Or being suspected of/caught working, or or or...

And how about the following letter to the editor (titled "Only in Thailand") with the guy complaining that his son (a Thai citizen) was not allowed to vote because the father is a foreigner.. What's up with that..

Probably more to the story than we are being told.

I've voted in a few Thai elections...never an issue.
