Heavy rain in the east coast of southern Thailand

Northeast monsoon prevail over southern Thailand and the Gulf. Heavy rains and flash flood are expected in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Surat Thani provinces. People should proceed with natural disaster (? arai na? :o ) . High waves are likely in the Gulf of Thailand. Navigators should proceed with caution during December 4-8. High pressure from China will extended its ridge to cover northeastern Thailand by December 5. Cold with 3-5 o C drop and windy in upper Thailand.

SAMUI under water again

Published on Dec 04 , 2005

CONTINUED HEAVY DOWNPOURS IN THAILAND'S SOUTH HAVE LEFT MANY PARTS OF THE REGION UNDER WATER.

ON THE TOURIST PARADISE ISLAND OF SAMUI. ALL ROADS ARE UNDER 30-CENTIMETRE-HIGH WATER.

STATE ATTEMPTS TO DRAIN WATER INTO THE SEA HAVE NOT BROUGHT RELIEF ... DUE TO ONGOING RAINS... AND AN OVERFLOWING SITUATION AT PROO CHA WENG RESERVOIR.

OFFICIALS EXPECT ECONOMIC DAMAGE FROM RAINS AT SOMEWHERE ABOVE 400 MILLION BAHT.

MEANWHILE... THE MET OFFICE HAS ISSUED ANOTHER WARNING ON SOUTHERN STORMS.

RESIDENTS ON BOTH THE GULF OF THAILAND AND THE ANDAMAN COAST ARE WARNED OF MORE HEAVY RAINS AND FLASH FLOODS... ESPECIALLY IN PRACHUAPKHIRIKHAN RANONG CHOOMPORN AND SURATTHANI

HIGH SEAS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE DURING THE NEW FOUR DAYS.

TEMPERATURES IN THE SOUTH ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO DROP BY THREE TO FOUR DEGREE CELSIUS OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

All roads under 30 cm of water, who came up with that nonsense?

A lot of the rest seems to be more true though.

let's make a poll, first day with clear skies and sun for at least an hour or so.

i pick dec 11, wan ah-tit (i suspect that's a bit optimistic but i'm going for it anyhow)

i also have a bad cold and i haven't been able to do laundry. i live in a wooden house that swells and smells funny. it's cold and depressing and dirty and everyone is bored out of their minds. the roads are washed out so that even if i wanted to i couldn't easily get back to civilization. and every freaking time i check the weather forecast there seems to be a new storm upcoming! argh.

i agree with dec. 11th. i PRAY for dec. 11th to be the end of this!

My husband thinks December 8th but I think the 11th is more probable.

I hope we don't have the same scenario as we had the other week in downtown Nakhon Si thammarat. Flooding was terrible, waist deep in many places, boats on mainstreet, I took pictures of some guys with lifejackets.

Doing the laundry is a challenge. Usually I don't need touse our dryer much however lately I have used it but even then, an hour after it comes out of the dryer it goes back to damp.

I'm dreaming of a dry Christmas,

just like the ones I knew before

Where the treetops glisten,

and children listen

To hear ice cream truck bells in the soi

quality!!!

I think the weather will clear on the 11th also (a bit of wishful thinking there also as its my day off and it would be nice to go to the beach as im horrible and white!)

Oh and just drove to work and the roads are looking like they were at the worst of the floods last week, there are fresh sandbags all over the place and I am soaking. Walked into work and burst into tears - the Thai girls thought it hilarious!!!

We had several hours of sun over here. Hung my towel out to dry, it got pretty dry before we had another shower. :o

It certainly makes you appreciate the little things in life.
