Small Sala As Private Fitness Room

Recommended Posts

I got the rowing machine, now will buy the bodybuilding machine. Nowhere to place in the house.

Thought of a kind of Sala next to patio, so I can enter dry when it rains.

Got no experience in these things. Simple, reasonable cost, want it quick. Any pre-fabricated huts for sale here?

How would you go about it? Any samples to show?

Sorry, the BH Logo comes automatic, may not be my choice

Theres a place that makes bamboo huts on route 108 heading out of town on your right, kinda close to the Sanpatong area.

There are also some wooden salas for sale at Ban Tawai on the right side, when entering the tourist trap area, you have to walk to the end of the alley.

My experience is that wooden salas get eating by termites and that all my metal rusts.

We replaced our sala because of termites. A neighbor just complained that termites had gotten into all the non-teak parts of his sala and he had to rebuild it.

Tools that I had for 20-30 years in the US with no rust now have rust on them, and they are kept in a tool box in a closet.

So, I would recommend a typical slab and cinder block constructions with regular windows. Construction that will allow you to let in air (or air condition it) but can be as dry as it can be. A typical prefab wooden or bamboo sala does not seem like the answer if you are buying such nice equipment.

My advise as a semi pro.. get a power rack instead of that machine. Then start doing the 5 x 5 lifting course. You will forever thank me. Unless your quite old (think over 50 and real weak).

It is in my honest opinion and of those of many on the web the best thing you can ever do. It will almost grantee continuous progress. Its also smaller as what you are thinking of.

Can i ask you what you paid for the rowing machine and what kind it is. I heard that rowing is the best cardio exercise there is.

I also think you are doing the right thing to set up your own small gym. I did the same 6 years ago and it has saved me money in the end. Also i trained more then i would have if i had to travel all the time. (still had my off periods unfortunately)

'noise' hit it on the head about rust. If you need an example, stop by one of the local gyms that are not completely enclosed. Everything is rusted and jigged together to semi-work. weights are weights, but any machine with moving parts will have issues after a short period of time.

I also heard that rowing machines are good for general cardio exercise but the stand-up ski machines (where your feet move back and forth and arms pull ropes opposite to your feet movement) is even better - sorry do not klnow what they are called !

Good idea, but will you also start a lottery as to when the equipment begins to accumulate towels to dry, jackets, crap in general? I think that's one of the big reasons they make the machines in that configuration - they make better clothes and towel hangers.

For some people machines are better but in general a power rack and an Olympic bar with weights is the best workout you can ever get. Doing compound exercises, you do need to know what you are doing. But its loads better as using a machine. However some people do like machines. But if the OP wants a machine then its his choice.

I know this is besides the point, but my experience with buying fitness equipment here in CM is not good and I would never buy any fitness equipment that has any mechanical parts again.

Brought a running machine at AP Paza 18 months ago and its never worked properly. The guy that sold it to me has been out to fix it more than a few times, but it always breaks again after about 25 kliks.

It's not working now and although my wife calls the guy every other day he is now not answering calls. Last time she did manage to speak to him he said he would come round 10 days or so ago....but never showed.

The machine has a 5 year guarantee and cost 25k, even if we DO get him round again I know it will break down again soon after he has fixed it, then we will have to go through all the hassle of trying to get him round again...nightmare !!bah.gif

So just saying be careful when buying equipment

The machines rust the buildings don't last unless they are built of bricks.

To munch to worry about I think I will pass it all up and go for a nice long walk.mad.gif
