I Want To Learn To Speak Thai In Chalong Phuket Area

Featured Replies

Anyone have any ideas or experience with this book?

I have 3 random falong who speak thai very well telling me this is a great book and to find a class based on its method.

I have tried self study but need a teacher. It says to start learning to read the thai alphabet first.

Any experience in learning thai language. It does not come easy or natural for me.

thank you

Why not try Walen school in Chalong. Near the supermaket spelt maket, on Patak road just before the circle. Has a good reputation. Like most begginers it"s proberly more conductive to learn how to read and write first. I believe that is the theory of the school.Good luck.

I used self study. Crude but effective: for 3 months every day, and after that only in the weekends for one and a half years, I learned 10 new Thai words every day, and rehearsed the old words.

Fundamentals of the Thai Language, by Stuart Campbell, is an excellent book.

In the beginning your linguistic efforts might be ridiculized, but it is more than worth the effort, and nothing in life comes easy.

Good luck.

I can recommend this book, too.

Go to school. Selfstudy is nice but you will never know how to pronounce the words right if you can't read the Thai language.

Mostly agree. Only after 6 years I started learning how to read, and I found out I had consistantly mispronounced quite a few words all these years. You can also learn to read by self study of course, but everybody should use the method that suits him best.
