Hey Bundycat,

So I'm not left out from this thread, I got a picture of the moon at 6:30 in the morning.

Not a challenge "moon shot", but I don't often see the moon during the day.

Been a while since posting a moon shot. Since it is a Buddhist holiday tomorrow, Wan Awk Phansa, a full moon seems appropriate.

Using my Olympus EM-1, 40-150mm (80-300mm equiv) f/2.8 PRO lens. 1/800s, f/2.8, ISO 200, FL 300mm, spot metered and hand held.

I just realized that was with my new Olympus PRO lens (80-300mm equiv) and it came with a 1.4x teleconverter specifically designed for it which would put me out to 420mm FL. May have to try again tomorrow when it is completely full with it on.

Tried it again with the 1.4x teleconverter on giving 420mm equiv FL. Bit touchier to hold steady but it was much brighter tonight so 1/2000s at F4 and ISO 200 and some bracing on the balcony support.

I've taken so many moon shots that there is nothing different about them anymore. So took a new one tonight and played around for something different. Wasn't sure to put it in Abstract, Photoshopped or here. smile.png

The air is clear in Phuket. Moon was in zenith, so best conditions to take a moon shot for a long time in Phuket.

One minute's worth of the moon rising tonight - about 4 hours before 100% full.

Sony DSC-WX350 pocket camera.

If only ET and the kids had flown by, would've made it a bit more interesting.

These were all shot in the early evening of March 22nd.

The moon rising over a small mountain in the middle of the lake. This is during sunset, behind me.

It was cloudy this evening. At first I was kind of upset, because I wanted some really clean shots. However, the clouds added some magic and mystery.

Blue Sky Moon - this shows "blue hour", one of my favorite times to shoot. The hour (roughly) after sunset makes the sky appear as a gorgeous cobalt blue to the camera. I was able to get a clean shot as the moon rose higher between the clouds. Blue Hour is great for shots of buildings and any kind of outdoor architecture like statues or monuments, and so on.

Just the moon, just for fun. Not as clear as I'd really like, but the clouds were very thin here and they pretty much disappeared in post editing.

All shot on a Canon 5D MkII body with a Tamron SP 150-600mm lens. Location: Greer's Ferry Lake, Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, USA.

Difficulty is it was very bright (and not that big actually), so either you exposed the Moon properly and any foreground was complete black or you exposed the foreground and the Moon was burnt.
