I am looking for a pressure cooker and was wondering if anyone in CR area has ever seen any in any of the local stores. I know they have them in Mai Sai, but I am a bit leary of one coming from China....so far, everything I have ever wasted my money on in Mae Sai was chinese made sh*t...not to say that if I can find one at all, it would be from anywhere else. Thanks in advance....ett

I bought a Pressure Cooker at Macro in Chiangrai about 1 year ago. Its brand name is Midea and its a 4 ltr. Its very solid as made from Stainless Steel and the insert is heavy stainless. It cost around 4000 but worth every baht. It gets used very regular as buy and sh--t beef here and you can make a great Curry,Stew or Casserole.

Thanks Big Gary, I will take a look the next time I am up in CR. It should would be nice to have the options of pressurized steam cooking for those almost too tough to eat meats. ett

Sure I saw various sized ones in either Robinsons or Power Buy the other day in Central. Ahh, memories. Venison, (or tough old beef), add prunes and red berry cordial, carrots, potatoes and a glass of red wine, cinnamon and green cardamom. Please make lots and bring it to the pot luck. You'll have to fight us off.

I've seen them at MaeSai also, some of the shops in the covered street to the left (west?) of the border crossing have a selection.

Not sure of the brands though.

Thanks all....I will seek out the CR venues first and then go from there. And if/when I find one, I will indeed whip up something good and bring to the potluck, Harsu. I have been trying to go to one of these for over a year now, but everytime....the dates didn't line up with the stars or something. Again, thanks to all....ett

If pressure cookers are difficult to find, and the 'safety' factor a worry .just get a slow cooker. Agreed it takes longer, but it produces tender meat....and anyhow, how hectic is your life than you have to cook at speed?
