Apaprently, you have no regard for the concept of an illegal search or in protecting evidence.. How do you know that the material alleged to have been found in the trash was even the DPM's refuse? How do you know the bottles were not planted? The correct action would have been to verify the contentts of the trash with a representative of the Speaker's office. Where were the witnesses that saw the DPM or his employees put this in the trash.

How would you feel if someone found some yaba in your trash that was in an accessible area and then acused you of having yaba? How about kiddie porn? Would it be appropriate to condemn you and demand immediate action even though there was no evidence that the material belonged to you? Would you be guilty of posessing the material because it was found in your trash, even though it was the guy from across the soi that put it there?

"There were 20 bottles of soda water and alcholic beverages. The manager of the Parliament’s canteen confirmed that no alcoholic beverages are sold on the premises, leading Boonyod to believe that some MPs must be drinking alcohol during the interim of the meeting."

No mention of any specific names. The trash was from a garbage dumpster at parliament. Furthermore MP Boonyod said

"empty bottles, including vodka, sherry, wine coolers and soda water, were proof of drinking inside Parliament although there was no evidence of links to Chalerm.

"The kind of bottles found indicated drinking done by lawmakers and not their drivers and aides.""

Now as (self-appointed) representative of the poor and other taxpaying people and anti-coupists, I'd really like an explanation why the evidence points to MP's and not other people working and walking around Parliament House

What are defamation laws in Thailand other than Lese Majeste for the common man. Make that the common rich man. Ridiculous to consider reform of one and not the other.

There may be an immediate exective decree signed entitled "Do you know who I am" decree with rules against speaking the truth about any politician of the current ruling party.

The point is that MPs are clearly drinking on the job, and that is not appropriate behavior in Parliament. If you think that's OK, that's a matter for you. If you think the evidence was planted, that's also up to you. Of no interest to me. People can reach their own conclusions, and have done. An illegal search of a crime scene! Ewwwwww! Shock, horror! Chalerm Files More Defamation Suits

BANGKOK: -- Deputy PM Chalerm Yoobumrung has filed an additional defamation suit against 2 other newspapers and 3 Democrat MPs for accusing him of being drunk during last Friday's parliamentary session.

Chalerm claims to have a medical certificate showing he has an ear infection which led to him being unsteady on his feet.

Of course it is bullying, but how on earth can anyone claim that there is a right to sue the newspapers for defamation??????????

These types of laws that exist here annoy the hell out of me, because they actively serve to keep the status quo to the detriment of society at large, but NO political party of any political persuasion will EVER change them. Why I can guess, but is there NO ONE who cares about making the system better in this country?

But the system is great for the elite! Why would they want to change that? Also it is a crazy thing about the defamation laws, I believe, you could actually be transmitting the truth and still be guilty of defamation.

On Nation's front page today is the story about Yingluck going on a road trip to Japan to "restore confidence".

She should purge this Chalerm story from the news first, he is her first Deputy PM after all, she can't inspire confidence in anyone if she keeps him around.

Chalerm can drink himself to stupor everyday and PTP voters can keep electing him, but if Japanese figure out this government for what it is it would cost the country most dearly.
