Vinyl Helmet Wrap Phuket

Featured Replies

Hi guys anyone in phuket had any experience or know anyone that does 3m Helmet wraps for Motorbike Helemts. Tried a couple of the car wrap places but not really a great help. Dont want to go down the paint road as the helmet has a 5 year Warranty.

Any Help is Appreciated.

Stretch240, the answer is I don't however be careful with this. Find out from whomever the vinyl maker is what plasticizer is used in their vinyl and get it checked and given Ok by helmet manufacturer. You can invalidate your warranty with use of vinyl as well as paint as just like solvent in paint the plasticiser in the vinyl will attack the helmet plastic.

For example a common PZ for vinyl films is di-octyl phthalate. DOP is a stress cracker to other plastics such as polyesters and polycarbonates. The helmet manufacturer invalidates the warranty for spray painting with solvent based paints as the solvent attacks the base forming chemical bond.. same thing may happen with some vinyls.

A helmet whose shell has been exposed to stress cracking agents such as solvents/ DOP or other Pz's will also more importantly have likely reduced impact resistance.
