Set up a Gmail account and add your email to it then you can access it from anywhere.

You can add any email address to your new ISP providing you know your mail servers.

You can also add your email to your existing Hotmail account.

But apart from that you should be able to access your email from anywhere in the world if you choose not to change supplier.

I would say it depends on what domain (ISP) your current email address resides.

If you're using an ISP in your home country, and if you quit your service with them, do they allow you to continue to use your old email address? If so, you can access it a variety of ways, such as using gmail or hotmail to read your mail. AOL continued to allow users who left as paying customers to use and access their old email addresses. Some ISP's will cut off your old email address, so if they don't, email your friends, relatives and business interests to use your new email address.

email addresses are tied to the the domain of the email server, and reside on the ISP's email servers.

Gmail, hotmail, yahoo and global "free" email operations use a distributed mail model, accessible globally through the local access point. They provide long lasting "fixed" email that you can use for decades.

Gmail rocks! Use it anywhere in the world. You can use the Gmail web-based interface or interface using your email client such as Outlook via POP3 or IMAP interface. The later is what I use all the time except I will log onto the Gmail web interface a couple times month for a few minutes to ensure no valid emails got put in the spam folder because Gmail will delete any spam automatically after 30 days.

BT Yahoo is accessible here in Thailand. You don't need to change a thing.
