Flood Cleanup

Featured Replies

I know that this is late considering the floods were over in December but I can not get back to Thailand until June. What kind of clean-up did any of you have to do after the floods receded? I have a gas pressure washer to be loaned by a friends family, and I expect everything on the first floor to be a loss. I expect mold but i am keeping my fingers crossed that it will not be excessive. Word from the family was that the water was only knee deep. If anyone has/had a place near Putthamonthon and could let me know how bad the flooding was in the area or what other problems they encountered I would appreciate it. The house is 2km south of the temple entrance on the other side of Sai 4 just as a point of reference. Thanks.

sorry about the color issue, didn't know I had changed it from black, thought it looked faded in the preview window.

Cleaning the mold should be don immediately, removing any particle board damaged by water, then other things

I cleaned up as soon as the water left the house and the mold was everywhere. I'm hoping that I'm wrong but after this much of a delay I would imagine that the mold will have become a new life form. Do you have a flame thrower?

Even with the windows open to air out the room, fabric (rugs, upholstery), wood and drywall will mold out quickly.

I think Gippy is right.. be prepared to do battle with alien life forms.

Sorry for your loss and hard work it will take to recover.

We only had 20-30 cm, and yes it was quite mouldy, even at the end of the flood. Open all windows and wear a good face mask. Remove all rotten things as fast as possible as you don't want to spend too much time in a mouldy environment. We also had ozone treatment which seemed quite effective, but I would suggest it only after you disinfect yourself (if smells still persist). Mould spores could have also migrated to the second floor, which they did in my house too. Good luck and let us know what you find !!
