Ideally places in BKK for me. Also, does anyone have any tips for cleaning the half fabric/textile and half leather jackets. Leather, I guess, shouldn't be washed in the traditional sense, but the textile needs to be. How to do ??

It depends on the type of leather and how it has been dyed/treated. I've found 2 types of leather conditioner in Thailand.

The HG 4 in 1 waterbased conditioner from HomePro hardware stores (looking for the foreign made cleaning products section)

http://oc.hg.eu/prod...n_1_for_leather

and

Dubbin from Viera/Ragazze Leather Shop (i got it from the Pattaya Central Shop). The Ragazze.co.th website is not working rolleyes.gif

and as usual there are conflicting addresses/phone numbers. The card i got has HQ at Lumpini but web info shows Chatuchak.

The phone number is 02 251 0208-9 while somewhere else shows the phone as 02 260 5674. The business card mentions shops at

Central World 02 613 1028

Silom Complex 02 231 3190

Central Ladprao 02 541 1315

Central Bangna 02 361 0613

Central Pinklao 02 884 8218

Cenrtal Pattaya 03 804 3344

Hua Hin Market Village 03 252 6196

To start with there are protective sprays for leather that help repel water etc. HG do one called 'HG water, oil, grease & dirt repellent for leather' but there are other brands available. Always do this for any leather products before you start to wear them.

The big killer of leather is moisture and salt (sweat, or perspiration if your jacket is upper class). Clean with mild soap, rinse any soap off with water, towel dry and then air dry before applying a conditioner. Always air dry away from direct heat and make sure it is stored in a ventilated area away from humidity. If using a product like Dubbin, make sure you remove any excess particularly from joints and stitching. Dubbin (there are different brands and formulas) is mainly for harder wearing leather like shoes and saddles but seems okay for coats etc, (some detractors feel that it may block the pores of the leather and stops it from breathing). Personally, if i use Saddle Soap or Dubbin i'd apply it and leave it in the sun (not too hot) and then wipe off excess. If it is old leather it may need a couple of applications. Just be careful as stuff like Saddle Soap and Dubbin may darken lighter colours.

Here is a good site for info on leather and how to clean specific leather for different types of soiling.

i've got a synthetic mess jacket by Rjays which may be similar to yours, it says to remove the armour and wash by hand.
