Upcoming Us Presidential Election

Straight from the horses mouth:

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

No wonder y'all are for Romney. Your facts are completely wrong.

According to your alternative right wing universe:

Man made climate change isn't real

Obama accomplished nothing

Republicans didn't obstruct

Obama is a Marxist

Obama threw Israel "under a bus"

For base right wingers, there is no hope and no change.

No wonder you're for Obama, you're so drunk on kool-aid you can't see all the above IS true.

What's worse than having Hollywood Icon Clint deliver a speech right before a Romney acceptance speech and stealing the thunder?

Having Democratic Icon President Bill Clinton deliver a speech right before an Obama acceptance speech.

It will remind people how much better Bill Clinton was as President than Obama has been.

Clinton was hated much more by the right wing than Obama. So much so he gave rise to Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. Michelle Obama has been pampered by the right wing compared to what Hillary went through.

Clinton was impeached by Congress for perjury over an intern and was still able to work with them to balance the budget 2-3 years in a row. Obama can't seem to even submit a budget and when he does, not a single Democrat voted for it.

Clinton had to deal with hostile Republican majorities in Congress and yet was still able to preside over a functioning government. Obama's own Democratic Party held super majorities in Congress for two full years and he hasn't been able to accomplish anything except by bribery or presidential order.

Here's a good article to read on the subject...

How Clinton plans to upstage Obama at the DNC

My sources inside the Obama campaign tell me that the last thing Obama wanted to see was Clinton, one of the country’s greatest orators, standing at the podium of the Democratic convention and sucking all the air out of the place.

...Clinton has been furiously at work writing his speech in longhand, as is his custom. As he’s continued to revise the speech, he has received numerous suggestions from the Obama camp about what they want him to say. This, according to my sources, has made Clinton furious.

The Obama campaign has insisted on seeing the speech before Clinton delivers it, and Clinton has just as insistently refused to show it to them. As a result, no one — not even the president — knows what Clinton intends to say. This has led some Democratic insiders to speculate that Clinton will...

Bill Clinton on Obama: 'A Few Years Ago, This Guy Would Have Been Carrying Our Bags'

5:51 PM, SEP 2, 2012 • BY DANIEL HALPER

Former President Bill Clinton tried to get former senator Ted Kennedy to endorse Hillary Clinton for president in the 2008 election by describing Barack Obama this way: "A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags."

This anecdote is revealed in a New Yorker article on the relationship between Bill Clinton and Obama:

Tim Russert told me that, according to his sources, Bill Clinton, in an effort to secure an endorsement for Hillary from Ted Kennedy, said to Kennedy, “A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags.”

Clinton is giving a keynote address at the Democratic convention this week in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Did Hillary finally get Monica Lewinski? I hadn't heard.

No, it was her boyfriend, Vince Foster, that she offed.

Romney got no convention bounce.

Gallup poll shows Obama still slightly ahead.

Now Obama can pile it on in Charlotte.

It'll be must-see TV. Like watching a train wreck only without anyone dying, hopefully.

But no matter how exciting the Dem convention will be, most of Obama's supporters will be doing the same thing after as they were doing before it...

In terms of polling, it seems like pretty much a dead heat. The time to celebrate will be when/if Obama hits the ball out of the park at his convention, now it seems premature:

He has had plenty of practice piling it on for the last 3 yrs so much so the country is starting to stink. lets hope we can get a man in there to change the BS the Oblamer is so good at.

Don't be disingenuous. You know perfectly well that Romney was hoping/expecting for a minimum 5 point convention bounce which would be normal but not remarkable. Instead, he got no bounce at all. When of the the biggest convention flops in modern history. It wasn't Clint. It was Mitt. He is a BORE!

Look folks in an economy this painful Mr. Ed the Horse should have gotten a five point bounce. Romney isn't even as good as that. Right wingers -- you've got a problem!

Speaking of being disingenuous...you are cherry picking a poll that shows no bounce. I just linked to one yesterday that shows he is now 4 points ahead of Obama. Which would mean Obama needs a good bounce otherwise he'll be playing catch-up until November and that will be hard to do after spending hundreds of millions on his Super Summer Smear Campaign that failed.

Yes, Jingthing is spinning once again. He knows that Romney got the 5 point bounce in other polls and that Romney can spend his money now that he is the official nominee.

@Jing,

It's hard to know on which policy area you are most delusional. I still go for your insistence he is an ally of Israel. Total and utter rubbish, even by your standards.

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4276276,00.html

The United States has indirectly informed Iran, via two European nations, that it would not back an Israeli strike against the country's nuclear facilities, as long as Tehran refrains from attacking American interests in the Persian Gulf, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Monday.

According to the report, Washington used covert back-channels in Europe to clarify that the US does not intend to back Israel in a strike that may spark a regional conflict.

This follows the deliberate leak that Israel had permission to use Azeri airfields, which would have cut the distance to Iranian nuclear sites.

About 70 percent of American Jews will be voting for Obama. Over 90 percent of us support Zionism. Don't call us delusional. Thank you.

You refer to the totally biased Rasmussen poll. Right wing propaganda. Refer to objective polls like GALLUP. Thank you.

More on how the Romney convention and speech was a massive flop! (I'm thrilled.)

* No convention bounce for Romney: Taegan Goddard summarizes:

The
shows President Obama regained a narrow lead over Mitt Romney despite the attention of the Republican National Convention, 44% to 43%...the
shows no bounce whatsoever.

I don’t expect much of a bounce for Obama, either, given how locked in the electorate seems to be, but Romney arguably needed a big one more than Obama does.

* Romney’s convention speech got lukewarm reactions: Gallup also finds that Romney’s speech was a wash, with roughly equal numbers saying they are more or less likely to vote for him as a result, and only 38 percent saying it was excellent or good — the lowest since Bob Dole.

The GALLUP poll is a 7-day poll going back before the convention started (Aug 26-Sept 1). The Rasmussen poll is a 3-day poll measuring after the convention ended. Which one do you think more likely to give a more accurate picture of a post-convention bounce? No, honestly?

According to Jingthing, Rasmussen is all some big conspiracy. Sorry, but if a polling company was purposely changing the results of their polls, they would have gone out of business long ago.

By the way, Romney was ahead in the ABC/Washington Post (and Fox) polls too at the same time. Are they in on the right-wing conspiracy?

Back when Obama was ahead in the Fox News poll, Jingthing was trumpeting it all over the forum. There is no conspiracy until Obama is behind. rolleyes.gif

An interesting article from Fordham University on the accuracy of the 2008 presidential election.

Rasmussen was tied with Pew Research Center as the most accurate in the cited election cycle.

Gallup was ranked 20th of 23 as the worst, ahead of only (21) Reuters/C-Span, (22) CBS/Times and (23) Newsweek.

The List: Which presidential polls were most accurate?

Nov 05, 2008

The Pew Research Center and Rasmussen Reports were the most accurate in predicting the results of the 2008 election, according to a new analysis by Fordham University political scientist Costas Panagopoulos.

The Fordham analysis ranks 23 survey research organizations on their final, national pre-election polls, as reported on pollster.com.

On average, the polls slightly overestimated Obama’s strength. The final polls showed the Democratic ahead by an average of 7.52 percentage points — 1.37 percentage points above his current 6.15-point popular vote lead. Seventeen of the 23 surveys overstated Obama’s final victory level, while four underestimated it. Only two — Rasmussen and Pew — were spot on.

Things are looking worse for Obama by the moment.

A majority of voters believe the country is worse off today than it was four years ago and that President Obama does not deserve reelection, according to a new poll for The Hill.

Fifty-two percent of likely voters say the nation is in “worse condition” now than in September 2008, while 54 percent say Obama does not deserve reelection based solely on his job performance. http://thehill.com/conventions-2012/dem-convention-charlotte/247263-hill-poll-voters-think-second-term-undeserved

Perhaps but they will give it to him anyway because the radical right wing alternative is too horrific to accept.

Pelosi is a great woman.

Now you're just pulling our leg.

Oh, I'm sure in the end Obama will dig up enough voters to win in November. I'm just glad I'm already overseas.

Pelosi is a great woman.

Now you're just pulling our leg.

Not at all. She used to be my congresswoman. I love her. I voted for her. I'm proud of her. She represents her district well. She is the daughter of a great Baltimore politician as well. When she was the majority leader she made history as the most powerful woman in American history. Right wingers demonize her because they don't like strong women. They like ditzes like Sarah Palin and Stepford wives like Annie Romney.

Pelosi is a great woman.

Now you're just pulling our leg.

Lets hope someone dumps a bucket of water on her at the convention.
