I experienced people in Switzerland being proud of their old, scratched and almost unreadable license plates as it indicated that they had been driving since the dawn of time. This has been stopped now.

I have seen 3 plates now where the retards inside have changed the numbers with paint to resemble an 8......so they change a 6 or a 3 or a 9 to 8's.

I seem to remember there was an article in Thairath recently where a Thai wrote in with a pic like that of their 'wrinkled' number plate. Turned out they were complaining about it - it's due to the cheap materials they've started using in the plate's manufacture.

Correct - it's the new paint with the embedded holograms - deteriorates under UV. Changeover not completely thought through as usual. rolleyes.gif

Is the number 8 not considered lucky in this part fo the world?

Yeah it is....so what ??....that makes it ok to vandal your plates and change the numbers ??

Not that the authorities would give a toss here really.

This is also what I understand. The supplier(s) seems to have cut some corners.

Also this is causing a huge back up in the supply of plates to new customers. A friend who works at the DLT/Chatuchuk said the wait is now 90 + days, but that could slip even further out.

Of course this means potentially more issues with the Police while traveling on red plates during Songkhran. Time to load up on 50 baht notes. ;)
