Best Bank For Savings' Account?

Featured Replies

Hi...I am quite new to Bangkok.

I have setup basic debit and checking accounts with Bangkok Bank, and my stick with them as my Local Bank. I was wondering what others might suggest in terms of Savings accounts in Thailand. Is a local bank better than an international one (Standard Chartered, Citibank, etc) for a savings account? I am looking for something sort of basic as do not have much in terms of savings, but just want some decent interest rate. In the next few months I could be at a point where I could put something into a fixed-time deposit scheme or something like that. Would welcome any suggestions to improve my financial illiteracy in Thailand!!.

Thanks.

Honestly, I found the international ones citi, HSBC (closing in bkk) and others too have very high minimum account requirements and higher annual fees.

Bangkok bank has good fixated term accounts, I locked in a 300k bit for 3.2p/a locked in for 3 and then rolls over if i want but that was a while back. I think the new ME brand by TMB has a personal 3% savings account but I think you can shop around. I do not think you will get similar yields at the international banks.
