April 11, 201213 yr Officials from the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) said Burmese government forces are massing in preparation for what appears to be an assault on the group’s headquarters, according to a report by the Thailand-based Kachin News Group. The officials said the Burmese army has focused its buildup efforts on Lajayang, located less than 8 km from the Sino-Burmese border town of Laiza, where the KIA’s political wing, the Kachin Independence Organization, is based.
