The European Union will ease its sanctions on Burma, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said on Tuesday. “In January, we suspended the visa bans on the Government of Myanmar. At the end of this month, we will do more,†Ashton told the European Parliament. EU foreign ministers are scheduled to meet next Monday in Luxembourg, where they are make a decision on its sanctions policy as part of a regular review. Ashton plans to travel to Burma from April 28-30, and said that she has invited the country’s foreign minister to Brussels.
