BANGKOK: -- Democrat Party MP Nutt Bantadtan, a son of former party leader Banyat, admits at a press conference yesterday that he accidentally viewed a pornographic pic during a parliamentary debate on Wednesday.

A red-faced Democrat Party MP, a son of former party leader Banyat Bantadtan, yesterday admitted that he accidentally viewed a pornographic picture during a parliamentary meeting on Wednesday.

Nutt Bantadtan admitted that he had used his mobile phone to look at a porn image during the meeting deliberating on the charter amendment bill.

The picture of Nutt watching the picture on his mobile phone was widely distributed among Facebook and Twitter users. Nutt was caught viewing the photo at almost the same time as a porn image was accidentally shown on a monitor inside the assembly hall on Wednesday.

Nutt told the parliamentary meeting yesterday that he was the MP whose picture had been distributed among members of social networking sites.

He said his friends always sent or tagged photos to him for checking and that sometimes they sent photos just to tease him. He said he had opened the picture simply to check what it was and closed it immediately after seeing it. He said it was a picture from his friend and was sent to tease him.

After the revelation during yesterday's debate on charter amendment, Nutt told a press conference that he was checking the picture he had received from his friends via Facebook and was about to delete it when his picture was captured.

"The journalist who took the picture must have known well that I didn't look at the picture for a long time," he said.

He said he knew it was inappropriate to use the phone during a parliamentary meeting but he usually checked for updates from his friends and local people through social media and phone applications.

On Wednesday, a porn picture popped up on the projection screen during the parliamentary meeting and brought criticism from parliamentarians. The picture was shown for five seconds then blacked out and redisplayed three times. Nutt's picture was taken during the period.

Officials from the Information and Communications Technology Ministry yesterday investigated the controller room for an hour. Chuwit Kamolvisit, Rak Prathet Thai party-list MP, urged Parliament to renovate the controller room as it was very old. He said he did not think the porn picture was the work of a hacker as claimed. He also accused several MPs of misbehaviour.

"Some raised their legs and put them on the desk. Some even slept and snored. And some were seen watching betting lists," he said.

He was just following his father footstep. Banyat Bantadtan the great. The previous mighty Democrats party leader. The mentee of Chuan, and mentor of Mark.

It will be interesting to see if Abhisit does take any action. It seems like being up on a murder charge is not enough to get punished by the party if you are the son of a veteran Democrat MP so I wonder if viewing porn is seen any differently.

No doubt he will offer his phone for forensic analysis in order to prove his innocence rolleyes.gif .

Good job he's not a PT MP: This thread would probably have been half-a-dozen pages long by now laugh.png .

Remember the Ah Gong who send nasty SMS, he is in jail for 15 years.

Whoever who sent the nasty nuke photos in the provocative position to any MPs should be investigated and charged with computer crime law, and copy right law (I suppose the sender don't own the copy right to the photos).

This isn't related to the naked lady being flashed up on screen. That incident still has no explanation. This was just a guy who got his picture snapped looking at a pic on his cellphone during parliament

With all due respect;

1. It was a man using his phone in the House when is was not supposed to and,

2. It was an MP with a solemn duty of upholding Thailand's laws, which include a ban on degrading pornographic images.

The fellow screwed up big time.

The image wasn't pornographic and was in no way illegal. It was just a cleavage shot of a woman in a sexy dress, they show it in other articles about the incident

What is he doing on the phone inside the parliament chamber anyway?

Totally agree, as unacceptable as using one at a royal funeral.

A member of Parliament has friends who "tease" him by sending him porn? Speaks volumes for his maturity level!

Open to interpretation in Thailand. I do not consider it pornographic and I doubt most westerners would. However, in Thailand, they have a different approach to what is acceptable. This is a place where it is ok to post graphic images of dead people, but anything racey is a nono.

Kinda like "smoked but did not inhale". Works everytime. At least he said sorry even if he didn't go on an elephant hunt .

Not really open to interpretation. Pick up a Thai issue of Penthouse sometime, they have perfectly legal topless magazines here. They show topless women in movies at the theatre. This image isn't even topless, they show racier pics in Thai Maxim. It is fine, legally. Inappropriate to be looking at in parliament, perhaps.

In the old days, all Thai women walk about in village tipless, and no one even stare.

Where is Bucholz and his entourage to the lead the screams of shock? The man was inappropriately using his cell phone and admits to it because he was caught. When the PM's image was shown of her looking at her phone, Bucholz and his entourage demanded action. Well, where is that gang now? Why so silent.

Am I to take it that they agree with this Democrat party MP and his taste for pornographic pictures? I am not surprised.

What a load of rubbish g'kid.

From what's been reported he admits he opened a message and found a 'porn' pic, but nobody has clarifies whether it's full frontal nudity or just a bit racy.

He says he closed it quickly (he says). No proof on this point.

Nobody has suggested g'kid that it's OK for dems to do this but not OK for other party members to do it.

Persoanally I think it displays how immature all Thai politicians are.

OK, I get it. Such photo is OK for MP.

We should also have such photo in highway billboard.
