I think a long overdue trip to the dentist is due as one of my teeth has started hurting and it looks like I need my first filling! (Oh no!)

Any recommendations in Bangkok where to go? I'm based in the Banglamphu area of Bangkok but I am willing to travel to a decent dentist. Also what is the price range I am looking at?

Also, what do I need to look out for and avoid?! Apologies if this sounds like a stupid post but I don't attend the dentist regularly at all. :D

(Mods; if this needs moving to the Health and Medicine forum then my apologies.)

I have been very happy with www.asavanant.com located at the Thong Lor BTS stop. Been using them for 8 years. Last trip was a cleaning and X-rays that cost me ฿1500. There are cheaper dentists in BKK, but I have complete confidence in asavanant.

1500 for exam and cleaning is way high. Dentistry is quite good in LOS---or they wouldn't really be calling it LOS. A filling is about as complicated as a manicure...........500 to 1000.

have yet to meet a non-decent dentist. As you may have noted by now, TV is mainly lacking real BPhu knowledge-and likes to hit at the area.

The 2-3 dentists along Chakrapong-across from the deptmtstore-Coop- are just fine and charge 6/700- for complete cleaning/checkup, fluor-application and less as 1000 for a complete xtraction/filling- pay cash only. One of them is Bangkok dental time or so.

Decide yourself how scary the usual posters can make it out for you.

You can do a search and find this question gets asked frequently here. If you are near Asoke, I always recommend these guys ...http://www.dentaldesignclinic-lab.com/price_guarantee.html (link to their price page). They have always been good, speak English well and prices also seem good.

However, I would be curious if anyone has any other recommendations for any other good dentist that does partials at a good price. I am most comfortable with the above but would be curious if anyone has other recommendations. I'm going to need to get some teeth pulled and my only real option is going to be dentures because of bone loss in my gums. Like everybody ... looking for the best work at the best price.

Great place near emerald hotel on ratchadaphisek adjacent to mini hotel ratchada. Think 1000 for a cleaning. Very professional and English speaking.

Depending on your location bangkok smile is my dentist of choice. Ive had multiple friends fly in just for dental work with them along with numerous family members. Ive never been anywhere else in BKK and will never go anywhere else. In the states I had never since the age of maybe 5 had any dental work without sedation, even a cleaning I would be sedated for. But when im at bkk smile im fine, extremely gentle and no feeling like your mouth was just assaulted by a prison shank when you leave.

There are quite a number of dental clinics along Thanon Chakrapong and Thanon Samsen in Banglamphu.

My personal recommendation, and a dentist I've been going to now for several years, is Clinic 66 on Thanon Samsen, just a couple of blocks west of the main intersection where the road changes names.

#66 Thanon Samsen, Pranakorn

Bangkok 10200

Dr. Wilaiwan speaks quite good English and is actually an endodontist. Charges are very reasonable, particularly if you compared them to Western costs. Cleaning and polishing is 500 baht.

I use a place called (I think) Dr Smile on Sukhumvit 33/1.

Great service

As all the replies suggest, it's hard to find a bad dentist in Thailand. One of the highlights of being here, in my view.

Definitely Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic. The place is clean, the doctor is competent and super gentle, the service is professional and the price is perfect. What else do you need?
