Finding The Right New Mobile Phone - Ideas Please

Featured Replies

I am trying to help my Thai neighbour choose a new mobile phone , he seems to have made his mind up that the phone should have the following minimum radio frequencies and specification .

GSM 850/900/

3G 850/900/2100

WiFi enabled

Memory card slot

Rear camera

Bluetooth

USB connection

Brand not important ( not Chinese imports )

O/S not important

Touch screen or key pad ( not blackberry like key pad )

Price - up to 10,000 Baht ( no used or second hand phones )

He has seen a Nokia , ( Nokia 603 priced at 6,200 Bhat ) ) that has the Symbian Nokia Belle O/S , and likes it , but I keep telling him that ive read that Nokia has promised to support it till 2016 , but who knows what will really happen in the future. could it be a bad choice to buy a phone with the Symbian Nokia Belle OS , when its future could be in doubt ?

I have told him to look for an Android phone , but its difficult trying to find the specification he wants for the money he can go up to .

Any ideas please

android would be perfect for him ......you should tell him to get a galaxy cooper or something similar

after using it for a couple of days ,he wont know how he lived without it !

3G 850/900/2100

This will be the "long-pole" for non-Nokia devices.

I would skip the 900 Mhz 3G requirement unless AIS is their only option for 3G. Once you do that there are many, many mid-range Android options. HTC have done a major refresh, so maybe some value there?
