I know from my own 3 experinces ths year that delays are horrific.

I am meeting a UK passport holder, without Thai wife,so in the big queues.

I am happy to wait but assume 9pm be earliest even if plane on time?

I can check arrivals online I hope and get a cab from Asok or train from Makkasan after arrival and still have time to greet him?

If its any consolation its no better at Heathrow

I have been through the airport twice in the last month on Etihad, there were no queues whatsoever and I was out within 30 mins. I actually had fast track cards but saved them for another time because it was so empty.

I your friend has a compatible cell phone, and there's still time before they arrive, mail him/her a prepaid Thai SIM with a bit of time on it so they can call you with details on the queues.

Hmmmm, might be a good idea if AIS & DTAC had SIMs for sale airside.

My friend arrived on that Etihad flight last Monday, touched down 7.20 pm it took him 1 hour from then. If your friend has thai wife he can go through the thai channel so no delays. My friend sms me when he landed i left the bar in soi 4 nana, we met at same time at meeting point 3.

I came in with Etihad on Saturday evening. 20 minutes from wheels down to baggage queue, then 15 waiting for my bag. The new snake queueing seems to be working well.
