Why Do Members Visit Profiles?

Featured Replies

Why do members visit profiles? What do they expect to see or find out? Are we supposed to have loads of information on our profiles? It's a mystery to me huh.png

Some people have pictures on theirs and it allows me to stalk them...especially the ones who leave their address as well. Sadly none of the posters I like seem to unfortunately!

I have looked at just about everyone's really. Gives me something to do when i'm not making 200 posts a day.

Occasionally, I will look at someone's profile to get an indication of whether or not they are trolling.

But, usually, it's by mistake - clicking on the name of the last poster rather than the time/date of the last post.

You can check your own now chickenslegs to see if you yourself have been trolling. Nice feature that. annoyed.gifbah.gifbah.gifbah.gif

If not accidently, I look to see if the person is m / f and where they hail from.

So many have nothing, must be hiding sumfin.

Who has a good profile? It would be handy to see a good example.

Take a look at Kan Win's profile.

I sometimes go via the Profile to someone's posting history - more often than not to dig up some old quotable material, but also sometimes to better understand someone's viewpoint and understand where they are coming from, so to speak.

There doesn't seem to be many people that use the various social facilities around their profile, but that might just be my perspective because I never look.

Also sometimes to find out whatever happened to the likely lads, like.

I had a look at ourblether's, and he seems to be bubbling along like a glass of liver salts

Huh?

The function has already been removed. There is a nice long thread on it in Forum Support if you can be bothered.

Erm... I just clicked on your name (immediately above the date/time of your post) and was taken straight to your profile.

But really, I was wondering - why all the "angry" and "disgusted" emoticons? Did my post offend you in some way?

Edit: The thought just occurred to me that we may be talking about two different things. I am saying that I sometimes visit someone's profile and look at their previous posts to get an indication of whether or not they are being serious or just taking the p*ss. But, more often, I visit someone's profile by mistake.

What are you talking about?

And very annoying it can be as well, especially if it's someone you can't stand... and boy do I have a list... and you spend the next 5 seconds worrying that they will think that your going to their profile is a sign of affection.

I wish they would just all put me on ignore. It would be a slight but easier on my sleep patterns for sure...tongue.png

I've actually disabled that feature on mine - I couldn't really care who visits my profile.

I always assume they are checking me out for the next moderators job and start planning my letter declining the honor due to my proud and independent nature. laugh.png

We will try to make sure that one of us visits your profile every day. That way you'll never know when it's serious. cowboy.gif

Do moderators experience a pang of unease when an administrator visits their profile?

Same as chickenlegs....I often miscue the mouse and view a profile inadvertently.

Sometimes I check out a profile to see age or something.

Glad no one checks mine...what with all those nude pics sitting there

Don't worry mate... they are just people....really

I check mine several times per day, (to check responds)

because my content is right at the edge between my profile & signout.

A click a tiny bit to the left & my profile show up, instead of option

to show my content

I think we're off ducks now. You need to move with the times...

Were they visiting as mods, or as interested posters?
