Turkish Baths Or Similar In Bangkok

Featured Replies

I am looking for a genuine Turkish bath or similar in Bangkok. It could be in a hotel or as a separate establishment. PAYG or a membership is fine as long as I can go and relax. I would prefer a dry and steam sauna as well as hot and cold plunge. I am not interested in any extras. Just a place to relax, read a paper and detoxify the Bangkok pollution.

Thank you for your help in advance

Stuart

There are 2 Turkish baths on Sukhumvit, visible from the road, on the even soi side. I know I sound like an idiot, because I can see the establishment in my head but I am trying to remember where it is. I think just off Prom Pong BTS, next to the Benjasiri Park. Another farther down... ahh, maybe I shouldn't have posted.

I think they may be the kind of places that offer "extras", and so probably not what the OP's after.

When tramping around Syria I went to a Hammam and had the full on treatment where I was scrubbed to within an inch of my life by a retired wrestler, and thought it was quite a good experience.

You won't get that in BKK unless a Soi 4 entrapeneur has started that business up already.

Having said that, you might want to try the Grand Tower Inn on Sukhumvit 55 (Thonglor), it is just near the BTS, on the north west corner of the Thonglor Sukhumvit intersection.

It isn't exactly what you want, but they have steam baths, hot pools and a plunge pool from memory, and (about 8 years ago) the entrance price was very cheap.

As intimated, I haven't been there is an while but let me know how it goes.

Silom Sauna, Same owner, Pattaya, Chon buri and BKK. Soi 22 off of Sukumvit. Very close to "Washington Square". Hot Pool, Cold Pool, Dry Sauna, Steam Sauna, 150b all day.

and no happy endings?

I don't know, I have never been to a Turkish bath, but these are very large and obvious signs that say "Turkish Bath" so I am not sure that they are the usual crap tourist massage parlors.

Now this is stuck in my head, and I will have to find them, if only to satisfy my own mind if not the OP's!

Just so you are clear, the term Turkish bath in BKK generally refers to a place where you'll meet alot of other like minded MEN all wanting to have a jolly good time (with each other).

So be warned, unless that is your thing of course.

(nb...what the OP wants, and what I proposed, aren't one of those type of places).

Funny you say that Samran.

I was in Istanbul a few years ago and thought I'd try a Turkish steam bath and massage.

Its fair to say I had certain expectations in mind.

However, when a huge hairy Turkish man walked in and started massaging me in a rather aggressive manner, needless to say, my expectations were far from met. It was not a pleasant experience.

Never again.
