charlie42 Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Hi All. I spend 9 months of the year in LOS and always believed i could not buy a motorcycle in my name on a tourist visa . I have seen on the motorcycle forum that it is possible but the post is almost two years old and as we all know thing change here on a daily basis . My question is, is it possible to buy a new honda wave on a tourist visa?. thanks
BigBikeBKK Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Welcome to ThaiVisa. The search function is your friend: etc.
JeffreyMcCollum Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Yes - That said, there are some questions. Do you stay for just a week or two at a time or longer ? Longer is easier. Will the bike be new or used. ? Used is easier. Where will you keep it ? do you stay at your own place or move around alot ? If you own a place it is easier, If you always stay at the same place it is also easy Change hotels every time and it gets harder.. There are some place that will store a bike for you when you are away. To chage a bike in your name you will need a letter from immigration. To get that you need to bring a letter from where you rent or live. But can be done 1
anto Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 I bought s/h bikes several times in the past on TVs .The main thing is to have at least 4 weeks left on your Tourist visa ,so that its still valid through out the processing period .
Ricohoc Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Depends. In Thailand, what happens for me today may not be what happens for you tomorrow. I was able to buy one with a Tourist Visa, but I've known some expats who were rejected. I was also able to get a driver's license. Give it a shot. All they can say is 'no'.
charlie42 Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 I usually come in on a double 60 visa, get it extended for as long as possible and then do a visa run to activate the second visa. I do move around, but usually stay at the same places for a month a couple of times on each stay . I would like to buy a new honda wave as there inexpensive and the prices they ask for used motors of any kind are on the steep side. Also from reading the fourm there are so many dodge bikes and papers going around it seems less hassle to buy new. I will also know it has not been trough the mill. Thank you for all your reply's, they have been a great help.
