A new restaurant on 62/147 Moo 12, Thepprasit Soi 8, Pattaya. This is what they said on their website:

From across the world to across the street, blue Olive Modern Mediterranean restaurant brings you a sincere commitment to service; the finest quality meats, seafood, and produce; and tantalizing wines and cocktails.

Offering flavors of Canada, Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Greece and Thailand, we invite you to come and enjoy small plates for one, dinner for two, or a banquet for your group.

We went there last week, location a bit out of the way, but the decor and the space is quite nice. We were a bit disappointed with our foods (all 5 five of us) which took overly long to be delivered to our table, but maybe it was an off night as it was only his 1st week open.

Only open for dinner and reservation can be done online - would love to hear your comments please.

OP: can I post their website here?

Haven't been but there is a certain "web buzz" happening about the place.

Jimgthing, you are late with this one. Your loyal gourmet subjects sit awaiting your review

OP, you can get into trouble for trying out a restaurant before Jingthing.

I love the place. Try the Canadian steak, delicious. I have eaten there three times already and not had a bad meal yet .

We went in a party of 4 and were not impressed with the food - the ribs were about the worst I have tasted

Okay, then it wasn't just me - I had the ribs as well and mine was probably the worse I have ever had as well. My friend ordered the haddock with pasta and it was un-eatable - he took three bites and couldn't eat no more. Our other friends had the salmon and they did eat it, but were not impressed.

Again I like the place and it has potential, but he better get a chef on board fast!!!

I went there last night with two friends, We all ordered the same thing: burgers. We all thought they were quite good and will certainly be going back. The owner was quite accommodating and the staff very efficient. Unfortunately I can't speak for any of the other meals but it sounds like the food maybe uneven.

Didn't the dish's name give him good warning?

Haddock is a very good fish (it's what I always order as fish and chips in the UK) but God never intended it to be served with pasta.

Is there any food on the entire planet more boring than burgers? Answers, on a postcard, to ....

I would have to be close to death by starvation to order a burger anywhere. Even a doner kebab would be preferable, and that's saying something.

I wouldn't order in a place like that, but on the other hand, it could be a fair way of judging how a place handles such a straightforward dish and may be a clue about the place in general. There is such a thing as an excellent burger, believe it or not.

I've eaten a standard burger there and it was delicious . Home made burgers and buns and mini potatoe wedges instead of French fries. I know I sound like a shareholder of the place but I love it!

Howard, do the mini potato wedges bear any responsibility for your new "well rounded" shape?

There are restaurants in Pattaya, and there are "places to eat" The difference can be debated long and hard, but let's be basic and start as a place where cooked food can be purchased. Many places aspire to be restuarants but some do not manage. However, these places fulfill a function which satisfies some and not others. Some people actually like a burger, some do not. Does not make one a gourmet and another a lazy eater. This place obviously has it's hard core supporters and some have been and hated it, but the owner must be doing something right as he is oprating and generating comment. Presumably he is also making money.

Not exactly. Anything off the major baht bus routes is fair game!

That means nothing - try some real food and you will see the problem with the quality

Most British pub food is pretty boring although that is mostly the fault of a lot of lousy cooks. There used to be a good place in a garage off Patpong 2 road in Bangkok many years ago, but I think it is gone now.

Ray and his staff are a great team, actually they open only for dinner ( I had this info but better ask to them for confirmation) so I only went there for the "late" opening party, 2 weeks ago, good food and the draft beer was so cold, they has an excellent draft machine too.
