Dont need potions and pills.....diet and exercise...there is no quick fix...In all probability what you are taking is a laxative, and long terms this is not good for you...

So the secret to weight loss which will never fail...diet & exercise

I have to agree, in my time i used some pills too (never laxatives). There are some that help but they only support your effort. They are not a cure on its own.

The various weight loss teas and coffees on the market in Thailand fall into 2 groups (some products maybe into both):

- laxatives. These give the illusion of losing weight but really it is just temporary loss of water, and it's not good for your bowels.

-stimulents which suppress the appetite. These are very dangerous. I just had to refer a young neighbor to the provincial hospital for srious cardiac problems brought on by one of these. The hospital staff said that they have had several deaths in the province from exactly this.

Mostly the second group is in the form of a coffee, a chinese brand. If what your wife has is a tea and supposedly herbal, it's probably in the first group, but if it's made in China it may also have some stimulents in it. If it is a green box that says ion it "Sliming Tea" and has the silhouette of a woman on it, that's pure laxative.

In addition some of the more "mainstream" (i.e. name brand, made in Thailand, sold on regular supermarket shelves) products claiming to promote weight loss contain green tea and/or white bean extract. If that's all they have, effect is negligible.

Many Thai women habitually drink the laxative stuff. Not a good idea, but certainly safer than taking the Chinese stmulents.
