If you mean 'Tapas' on Soi Aroi (next to CC's) then yes, it is nice and good value (buy 2 get 1 free until 7pm on certain tapas dishes last time I checked). But I have not tried the free flow wine and tapas in Le Fenix, but I am interested to hear if anyone else has...

I tried it. was alright. some of the dishes were nicer than others

pricey though

here is the menu: http://www.tapascafebangkok.com/themenu.html

they had some sort of chocolate pudding for dessert.(but I dont see it listed on their online menu though) it was some kind of sauce/soup texture. was ok. I wouldnt rave about it...but then dont use me to determine chocolate standard tongue.png

the paella was disappointing if I remember correctly...but mind you...has been over a year ago since I was there

Tapas Cafe on Suk Soi 11 (the back alley part) has quite decent food and two-for-1 specials on their quite good sangria during their happy hour periods. But it's not a buffet place at all.

The lunch buffet at the Le Fenix Hotel a bit further up Soi 11 is just OK by my standard, not great. The wife and I went there a few months back and weren't impressed enough to want to go back. (We just did the buffet lunch, not the drinks buffet).

For the same price, I think the lunch buffet at the Ibis Hotel on Suk Soi 4 (daily noon to 3 pm) has a better spread of food offerings.

They have a really nice rooftop bar, called The Nest https://www.facebook.com/NestRooftopLounge very nice for a after dinner drink :)

Best buffet in town, is Trader Vic's sunday buffet at Marriot, on the other side of the river - but it's not the cheapest

:

A good one is also at Imperial Queens Hotel in Soi 22, they sometimes have some discount tickets at thaicitydeals.com - so its half price, i think its about 899,- with free flow of wine, that is a very good deal. I can't remember but normal prices is about 1500-2000 baht.

Happy buffet hunting :-D

I've recently become a fan of Oishi Grand Buffet (Discovery Center - 2nd floor). The buffet is massive with choices of freshly made and served to your table or help yourself options. All very fresh and nicely presented.

I'm no expert but I believe they have different prices for different times of the day. I've only gone on the night shift which was 600 baht per person but if you love cheese and sashimi like I do, it's good value. Pattaya is 500 baht.

I'm told there's an Oishi near Victory Monument for only 300 baht.

Horrible. The only thing worth eating is there tepphinyaki.

You sir are correct. The Marriott RGR has one of the best buffets you will find in Bangkok, they actually have chefs on the floor cooking, not just waiters dumping troughs of food in to bins. If you havent been there then your seriously missing out.. plus its the only thing on the side of town worth going to lol.

One of my favourite lunchtime buffets is Gustoso Buffet located on the 7th floor at Central World around the 400 baht ++ mark (soft drinks included).

Here's a good link

http://topicstock.pa.../D10580244.html just to get the taste buds going. smile.png

I've eaten there, and it strikes me as kind of a so-so international foods version of the Sukishi or Shabushi buffet chains... 400 baht per person buys a whole lot more at any number of other buffet choices around town.

Agree with TallGuy. I ate there last month, huge disappointment ! It's not about the money, it was just not good.

+1. This place is really hit and miss. We used to go quite often but noticed that the quality varies greatly. One thing for sure is that they cannot cook steak and when they have BBQ ribs they are horrible. We have given up on them.

At the other end Tsu Nami at the Marriott on a sunday is spectacular if you don't mind the 2100 bht price tag. Although we have a friend who has a member card and that will give you 50% off but only to a maximum of two people. You really need to go hungry and be a drinker to get full value.

Four Seasons Sunday Brunch is by far the best but it's a little pricey for some.

I think the Sheraton on sukhumvit is better- they have Alaskan king crap (4 seasons does not) and a live American jazz band. But 4 season has a nice cosy atmosphere and better for a date.

  • 2 weeks later...

Arnoma Hotel across from Central World next to Big C superstore. The name of the place is "The Buttercup" Its is 299 +vat +gratuity + drinks. Great place the food quality is really good and they do a different theme every day. Cheese<check> Leg of lamb <check> Good staff <check> Location <Check> across from Central is great people watching. Decor and deserts <check Deserts are amazing!!!!!!!> I use to take my girlfriend here once a week because we like the place so much. It is where we got engaged they were so nice about it too. This place wins because it puts a 1000baht spread out for 300. 11:30 to 3pm and at night they switch it to a Thai buffet<6 to 10>. The night buffet is really great if you want to taste all the Thai favorites with good quality ingredients and prefect preparation. The place is great for Thai Westerner couples she can eat what she wants and you can eat what you want and there are tons of little things they can try. My GF was not a big fan of western food until I brought her here blueberry creme brulete is one of her favorites now.

Went to the Arnoma hotel yesterday, must admit great buffet for only 320THB all included, nice variety and great taste.

We went by last week to check it out. Totally crap offerings including small tuna sandwiches on white bread in a small bar area on the 2nd floor overlooking the street. They advertise it as "Tapas" but unlike any I've seen and the wine offered was just basic Chilian. For 899 you can get a much better free flow wine and tapas offerings at "X Wine Z" on Sukhumvit 39, where you just order off the menu anything you want and as much as you want. Excellent food and lovely restaurant for relaxing.

Well done flights crew

I was at le Felix again recently.....at the rooftop nest. On my way upstairs I popped in to check the free flow n tapas deal, and as you say, it was well....I fail to think of a word to describe it......but let's leave it at its far far removed from tapas :P

The food at the nest was quite disappointing too. But if I go again I will only have a drink, relax and enjoy the garden feel for a while, then head off elsewhere for food

Luckily I had already eaten and that was just an after dinner snack

Ohhh so just one Chilean wine offering in the free flow? one red and one white is it?

Upstairs the basic wine is around 240 or 260 a glass! so if u normally drink more than two, the free flow could still be an ok deal. I usually only get just a touch past one glass, so free flows not always good deal for me :D

Nearby there´s a Sofitel at Ploenchit/Sukhumvit , anyone tried buffet at that place?

if you mean the Sofitel Sukhumvit (opposite Chuwit park), then yes I can confirm it is quite good. About 900 baht - includes sushi, sashimi, some thai dishes, ousters, prawns and lobsters and other meat cooked as you desire. pastas, dessert and cheese are also included. the cheese room looks impressive, but I didnt try....was already too full tasting a bit of this and that

the oysters are imported from France, looks a bit on the small nice, but very fresh!

overall very nice.

Although it seems to go against the majority here - that's also one of my favourite buffets :) Especially the carbonara!

Also if you like mexican, check out Coyotee's on Sukhumvit each Monday evening - 299 all you can eat :)

ok some pics....I didnt take pics of a lot of things, just the ones I liked biggrin.png

they had a cooking station, where you can ask for pasta of your choice, and a selection of prepared dishes too...but I didnt take those pics

theres also woodfired pizza, but the day I went, it wasnt quite ready yet (relatively new hotel)

by the way, wine in the cheese room is not included in that 900 baht tongue.png
